Gateway Classic Cars Houston Showroom is proud to present this 1991
Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 Turbo, the top tier performance model that
set itself apart from the standard 3000GT through advanced
engineering and cutting edge technology. When Mitsubishi introduced
the 3000GT lineup in the early 1990s, the base models were designed
as capable grand touring coupes, while the VR-4 was developed as a
true flagship, showcasing everything the brand could offer in
performance and innovation.
What distinguished the VR-4 from the standard 3000GT was its twin
turbocharged 3.0L V6 engine, delivering significantly more power
and a more aggressive driving character than the naturally
aspirated versions. The VR-4 was also engineered with performance
focused hardware that elevated it into a different category, making
it a serious competitor to other high end sports cars of the era.
Paired with a 5 speed manual transmission, the VR-4 delivered a far
more engaging and performance oriented driving experience than its
standard counterpart.
This example is finished in a striking red exterior with a bold
black and red leather interior, reinforcing its performance focused
personality. Despite its sporting intent, the VR-4 still offered a
full suite of comfort and convenience features including air
conditioning, power steering, and power brakes, blending
performance with everyday usability. Safety features such as seat
belts, a driver airbag, and anti lock brakes added reassurance,
while power locks, power windows, power mirrors, leather interior,
and radial tires made it a well rounded grand touring car.
The 1991 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 stands as a landmark in Japanese
automotive history, representing the pinnacle of the 3000GT
platform. While the standard 3000GT delivered style and comfort,
the VR-4 took things further with turbocharged power, advanced
performance engineering, and a level of sophistication that made it
one of the most impressive and memorable sports cars of its
generation.
