Gateway Classic Cars of St. Louis is proud to digitally present
this 1964 Ford F-100 Restomod.
When the fourth-generation F-Series arrived in the early 1960s,
Ford wasn't trying to reinvent the truck - they were refining it.
America was expanding, suburbs were spreading, and pickups like the
F-100 were becoming part of daily life rather than strictly
worksite tools. The 1964 F-100 represents that turning point:
simple, honest design with just enough sophistication to hint at
what trucks were about to become.
This particular F-100 takes that foundation and pushes it
decisively into the modern era. While original examples trade
solely on nostalgia, this build answers a different question: What
if a classic truck could drive the way it always looked like it
should? Much like a well-executed C-10 or early Bronco restomod,
this Ford blends unmistakable vintage presence with modern
capability and confidence.
At the heart of the truck is a completely rebuilt 351 Cleveland V8,
bored .040 over and paired with an Edelbrock 1406 four-barrel
carburetor and matching intake manifold. It's an engine choice that
fits the era to a T - muscular, responsive, and unapologetically
mechanical. Power is delivered through a newly rebuilt FMX
automatic transmission, sending torque rearward to a Curry 9-inch
positive-traction rear axle, a combination known for strength,
reliability, and real-world drivability.
The transformation continues underneath. A Helix Mustang II
independent front suspension package modernizes the truck's
front-end geometry, while QA1 rear suspension conversion components
and adjustable coil springs at all four corners give this F-100 a
planted, composed feel that simply didn't exist in 1964. Stopping
power is equally modern, thanks to a four-wheel disc brake system,
ensuring confidence to match the truck's performance and
stance.
Visually, the slammed ride height completely redefines the long-bed
profile. The proportions are bold without being overdone -
purposeful, aggressive, and undeniably modern while still
respecting the original lines. The body itself was professionally
restored approximately three years ago, giving the truck a clean,
cohesive appearance that ties the entire build together.
Inside, the leather interior, power steering, and tilt steering
wheel reinforce the idea that this truck was built to be driven and
enjoyed, not just admired. Where a stock F-100 once offered
bare-bones utility, this cabin delivers comfort and control that
make long drives feel natural rather than nostalgic.
Today, restomod trucks like this occupy a unique place in the
market. They offer the emotional connection and authenticity of a
classic pickup, paired with the usability enthusiasts expect from
modern vehicles. This F-100 doesn't chase trends - it delivers a
timeless interpretation of what a classic Ford truck can be when
thoughtfully upgraded.
This 1964 Ford F-100 Restomod isn't just a tribute to Ford's truck
heritage - it's a fully realized vision of how that heritage can
live comfortably on today's roads.
