When it comes to the Golden Age of muscle cars, almost no name
engenders more respect than the mighty Chevelle. Fully repainted in
a black and red motif, this 1968 Chevrolet Chevelle Convertible SS
Tribute now comes to you with equal parts style and speed. A
straight body, racy red striping, and shimmering chrome combine to
create a slick, sleek look unlike anything else on the road.
Inside, the sea of enchanting, inviting red vinyl is beautifully
contrasted with a flat-black dashboard and a wood-rimmed steering
wheel. That three-spoke power-assisted wheel sits in front of a
six-pod of white-faced Auto Meter gauges, while the throwback
sliding HVAC controls remind us how simple driving used to be.
Thankfully, an upgraded Kenwood AM/FM/CD/Aux head unit handles the
soundtrack duties and offers satellite and Bluetooth connectivity,
while the T-bar shifter promises an engaging ride, whether it's
across town or cross-country.
Under the hood, we find a 454-cubic-inch big-block, looking right
at home with its Chevrolet valve covers and chrome air cleaner
advertising 450-horsepower. A single four-barrel Edelbrock
carburetor and matching Edelbrock intake manifold feed this beast,
while a set of long tube headers feed into a true dual exhaust and
exit out of a sweet-sounding FlowMaster exhaust system to give this
old school muscle car the sound we expect it to have. Power flows
from that big block to a 700R4 four-speed automatic transmission
before heading out to the 12-bolt rear end. Big eighteen-inch U.S.
Mags wheels are shod in 245/45R-18 tires on both the front and
rear.
