This is one stunning 1968 Pontiac Firebird. From the Solar Red
paint and near-flawless black vinyl top to the bright chrome
bumpers and shiny wheels and tires, it simply doesn't get much
better than this. The rest of the bright trim is in good shape, the
emblems are all present and correctly placed, and the stance of
this Bird is spot on. All windows and weatherstripping are in good
condition, the body lines are straight, and the overall
presentation is excellent. This Firebird is a true head-turner
whether it's cruising the street, rolling into a car show, or
parked at your favorite cruise-in.
The interior remains largely stock, with the exception of
aftermarket Dakota gauges neatly housed in the original gauge
cluster. The upholstery is in great condition with no rips, tears,
stains, or excessive wear. A beautiful chrome T-style shifter sits
in the center console, surrounded by burl wood trim that also
accents the shifter, radio, and climate controls. The dash pad is
solid, the carpets are clean, and the headliner shows no issues.
Door jambs and panels are solid and clean. Out back, the trunk is
clean and uncluttered, housing a spare tire ready if needed.
Pop the hood, and you'll find a very clean engine bay. An aluminum
radiator with electric fans and a serpentine belt system supports a
383 Crate Blueprint Engines topped with a 4-barrel Holley
carburetor and Firebird air cleaner housing. Aluminum heads and
Pontiac valve covers finish off the look. Power is transmitted
through an FTI Level 3 700R4 automatic transmission to a 10-bolt
rear axle with a 3.55 gear ratio.
The Firebird retains a factory-style suspension front and rear.
Custom 17-inch PMD wheels are wrapped in BF Goodrich G-Force tires,
while Wilwood components handle braking duties. Stock-style Hooker
manifolds feed a 2.5-inch dual exhaust with MagnaFlow mufflers,
giving this car the muscle car sound it deserves.
