Searching for a vintage SUV with its factory styling still intact,
but don't want to have to cross your fingers every time you get
behind the wheel? Then you'll definitely want to check out this
1973 Ford Bronco Sport 4x4. This first-generation Bronco is dressed
in green paint that has a smooth texture and a decidedly vintage
appearance, and the metal flake it contains nearly radiates when
you bring it out in the sun. The accompanying bright work is in
fine shape, with no dings to be found. This classic was said to
have been restored by the professionals at Venice Broncos in
California, and the results are undeniable. It looks and runs
great.
The interior is sure to impress, with tan vinyl upholstery covering
front buckets and a rear bench seat that is virtually new. Between
them is a locking Tuff storage box that comes in handy for stowing
valuables. As you direct your attention forward, you'll notice that
the color-matched dash area really pops, with its collection of
clear functional gauges and a dash pad over the top that ties in
perfectly with the other upholstery. The air conditioning system
works flawlessly to keep you and your passengers comfortable
throughout the year, and a touchscreen-operated AM/FM stereo with
Bluetooth connectivity is on hand to offer plenty of audio
options.
This vintage SUV hasn't logged a lot of miles since its
restoration, and its rock-solid running condition makes it a good
match for frequent driving. Its 302-cubic-inch V8 starts up without
a hitch, and armed with an Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor and intake
manifold, it idles smoothly and pulls with plenty of conviction.
The engine pairs with a 3-speed automatic C4 transmission that
shifts smoothly. With Bilstein shocks at all four corners, the ride
is firm, but by no means harsh, and power brakes that include discs
up front provide prompt, fade-resistant stops. Long tube headers
allow for easy breathing and terminate in a pair of Thrush mufflers
that add a nice, deep rumble. A look below will reveal steering and
suspension components that are ready for plenty of future miles of
driving enjoyment.
