"Corvette's interior is inspired by the car's dual cockpit
heritage. High quality materials, craftsmanship, and functionality
help deliver premium quality meant to enhance performance driving.
The instrument panel and doors are covered with cast skin, foam in
place trim that looks like a leather wrapped, padded panel. New for
2007, steering wheel mounted audio controls are included with the
Bose premium system." MotorTrend, March 2007
For consignment, a 2007 Chevrolet Corvette 3LT coupe with a title
verified 59,837 actual miles. 21,484 Corvette coupes were produced
in 2007 and just 2,243, or about 10%, left the Bowling Green plant
with LeMans blue paint.
Exterior
For the C6, Chevrolet decided to have fixed headlights rather than
historically hidden units, and like many generational changes, it
was met with polarizing reactions. But over time, people began to
favor it, and it certainly eliminated one potential problem. Our
wedge shaped beauty is ready to show and go in that fantastic coat
of two stage LeMans Blue Metallic paint and it's the five spoke
wheels, 18-inch in front and 19-inch in back, that create some
appealing contrast with red covers on the calipers add to the
pizazz. In back, the clean tail houses the iconic quad tail light
and center exit exhaust also come in a set of four, flanked by a
valance that takes in the sizable reverse lenses. Door handles are
inset into a cove on the body and the fender vents provide the
character lines along the side. Imperfections here include some
rock chips on the hood and nose piece, various small chips and
inclusions, and the inevitable chin scrapes.
Interior
63% of '07 coupes came with an Ebony interior and this one of them,
beginning with the smartly designed door panels made mostly of
textured plastics. From there, we note the leather bucket seats,
nicely padded and showing some wear and compression on the driver's
side. Our leather wrapped steering wheel shows some use as well but
is fully intact and fronts the unassuming sports car instrument
cluster with stylistic overlapping gauges and bright red needles.
Aluminum colored plastic serves as the faceplate for the center
stack where we find a simple integrated AM/FM/CD player and climate
control panel. That faceplate cascades down seamlessly into the
center console where the leather booted shifter awaits, all in nice
condition. Clean charcoal carpet is below and in the cargo area and
a translucent removable targa roof is overhead.
Drivetrain
The mostly shrouded engine bay presents cleanly, and we note some
surface rust on the brake booster. This is a 6.0 liter LS2 V8 rated
at a robust 400 horsepower with power routed through a 4L60E
4-speed automatic transmission. Power is routed to the limited slip
rear axle with 2.56 gearing.
Undercarriage
Some age induced patina is noted underneath where most of the real
estate is occupied by clean aerodynamic belly pans. The dual
exhaust runs down a central tunnel, finds original equipment
mufflers, then exits through the noteworthy quad tips. We note some
residual oil around the filter but otherwise conditions are dry.
Four wheel power disc brakes are on board and suspension is
Corvette's SLA double wishbone suspension with transverse mounted
composite leaf springs making up the complex suspension of front
and rear.
Drive-Ability
We start this blue beauty up and get a few warnings including a
check engine light for the EVAP system and a tire monitor system
light. Thus, we'll keep our test fairly short and focus on
functionality which results in a positive test in which all
operational items on board work as they should. Classic Auto Mall
represents that these functions were working at the time of our
test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at
the time of your purchase.
This is a nice unmodified 2007 Corvette with the 3LT package that
includes heated seats, head's up display, dual zone climate control
and a number of other convenience and technology features. We don't
see too many blue Corvettes but there must be something about them,
because they generally find a new owner in short order. You needed
a reason to clean out the garage and this might just be it!
