This 1955 Ford Thunderbird custom convertible is powered by a
rebuilt Ford 351 Cleveland V8 engine paired with a C4 automatic
transmission modified for manual shifting. The engine features new
piston rings, a reground crankshaft with .010-inch rod and main
bearings, new cam bearings, a high-volume oil pump, rear-sump oil
pan, Edelbrock Performer intake manifold, 750 Holley carburetor and
a Howard's hydraulic camshaft with new lifters rated at 215-degree
intake and 225-degree exhaust duration with .530-inch lift, along
with electronic ignition and distributor. Cooling is handled by an
aluminum radiator with a thermostat-controlled electric fan. The
car has been converted to a complete 12-volt system with a new
wiring kit and fuse panel. The rear end features new axle and
pinion seals with a 3.31:1 gear ratio. Suspension and braking
updates include new front shocks, new rear air shocks, new Wilwood
front disc brakes with master cylinder, new brake lines, hoses,
wheel cylinders, linings, new rear spring shackles, new suspension
bushings and new ball joints. Exhaust is routed through
block-hugger headers and a new system exiting through the modified
Thunderbird bumper outlets. The car underwent a frame-off
restoration with new floors, inner and outer rockers, rear lower
quarter panels, trunk floor and all new body mounts, along with an
all-new custom interior. A floor-mounted Lokar shifter is
installed, and gauges are updated with oil pressure and temperature
