The last of the air-cooled Porsche 911s, the 993 is the final
evolution of the long air-cooled lineage from Porsche. The 993
boasts all of the innovations and refinement that Porsche learned
from building the 911 for 30+ years, creating a simple yet
distilled package of excellent driving dynamics, everyday comfort
and accessible performance. The C4S, first built for the 1996 model
year, uses the same wide body as the coveted 993 Turbo and also
used the same all-wheel-drive system that the Turbo was equipped
with. With an incredible amount of mechanical grip, a direct
driving experience with just enough power to get into trouble with,
the 993 Carrera 4S is a fantastic performer in all conditions.
This 1997 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S was built on January 9th, 1997 in
Stuttgart, Germany. Specified in the stunning Arctic Silver
Metallic color with a black leather interior and a 6-speed manual
transmission, the car was optioned with a host of additional extras
including the following:
X97 - Aluminum shift knob
X98 - Aluminum parking brake lever
329 - Cassette-radio Becker Porsche CR-210
425 - Rear window wiper
446 - Wheel caps (Arctic Silver) with colored Porsche crest
454 - Automatic speed control
650 - Sun-moon-roof
09991 - Manufacture from the Exclusive Programme
The Carrera 4S was first sold on February 26th, 1997 in New York.
Its first caretaker, who went on to own the car for 5 years, kept
the car regularly maintained according to the accompanying CarFax
report. By May of 2002, the first caretaker had added 7,800 miles
to the odometer. Starting a trend with this C4S, the following
caretakers would also keep excellent care of the car, indicated by
both its regular maintenance history, low mileage, and exceptional
cosmetic condition.
The 1st time this Carrera 4S arrived at Canepa in early 2024, just
17,926 miles had accumulated on the odometer by its previous
caretakers. Even before going through the "Canepa Difference"
process, it was evident that the car was exceptionally maintained
and was taken care of, presenting in the condition of a car that
had a quarter of the miles it actually had. With a comprehensive
mechanical inspection resulting in a clean bill of health, a
detailed cosmetic preparation in the form of a concours-level
detailing, including washing the underside by hand, it was no
surprise that it quickly found its new home in sunny Los Angeles,
CA, where the new caretaker would keep it in his collection for
almost two years.
Upon its recent return with just 18,177 miles, the Carrera 4S
looked as if it had just left the Canepa showroom. Requiring just a
foam-pad polish of the original Arctic Silver metallic paint, and a
test drive and inspection to confirm its mechanical condition, this
Carrera 4S checks all the boxes. With an air-cooled 3.6L engine and
its 6-speed manual transmission, this is the distilled essence of
the aircooled 911 in its final iteration. In stunning condition
that presents like a car with far fewer miles, has been well
maintained, and in the color combination of Arctic Silver Metallic
with a black leather interior, it is hard to go wrong with this
1997 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S.
