The 1972 Chevelle SS stands as the final chapter of the second
generation muscle era, a year when tightening regulations made true
SS cars increasingly scarce. That makes this ProTouring-built
example even more compelling, blending the last of the classic
Chevelle attitude with modern performance engineering that elevates
it far beyond stock.
Under the cowl induction hood lives a fuel injected 6.2L LS3,
breathing through ceramic coated long tube headers and backed by a
4L60E automatic overdrive. Electronic ignition, FiTech EFI,
aluminum heads, and a serpentine drive system make this Chevelle
fire instantly and cruise effortlessly, while stainless dual
exhaust delivers the right soundtrack without sacrificing
refinement.
The chassis has been fully modernized with RideTech StreetGRIP
suspension, adjustable HQ shocks, dual rate coil springs, and front
and rear sway bars. Wilwood drilled and slotted front rotors with
four piston calipers provide confident stopping power, while Torque
Thrust and US Mags wheels plant it firmly on the pavement. Power
steering and power brakes complete a package built to handle real
road time.
Inside, the black bucket seat interior balances classic muscle with
modern comfort. Dakota Digital VHX gauges and Stewart Warner
underdash instruments keep vital info front and center. A center
console with cupholders, column shifter, Vintage Air air
conditioning, LED lighting, and a premium Kenwood and Kicker sound
system make this Chevelle as enjoyable on long drives as it is at a
show.
Finished in red with a vinyl top, this 1972 Chevelle SS captures
the spirit of an era that defined American performance while
delivering the reliability and drivability enthusiasts demand
today. It is a rare blend of muscle car heritage and ProTouring
execution done right.
