With an outstanding color scheme that pairs striking Calypso Coral
paint with razor sharp black accents, this 1970 Ford Torino Super
Cobra Jet is a fine example of the more expansive muscle cars that
enjoyed a surge in popularity as the '70s arrived. It's a
great-looking classic, with tight, even body panel gaps and chrome
trim that presents nicely. Take a lap around the car, and you'll be
impressed with the deep shine of the paint and the notable absence
of any dents or dings to diminish its curb appeal. The look of that
Cobra Jet intake protruding through the hood while encircled by the
matte black accent is a definite eye-catcher. Yep, the high-end
Torino Cobra Jets really were a stylish bunch.
The black vinyl interior has clearly been well looked after over
the years, so its high-backed front buckets and rear bench seat
don't show the marked creasing you often find in cars of this age.
Above, the headliner is still unblemished and snugly in place,
while below, the black carpet lining the floor looks equally fresh.
Up front, the dash area features a collection of clear factory
gauges, with a straight, uncracked pad across the top, and at the
center, you'll find a retro-style AM/FM stereo with an auxiliary
port and Bluetooth connectivity on hand to provide you with plenty
of audio options.
This vintage Ford is packing plenty of power in the form of a
460-cubic-inch V8 lurking beneath its distinctive scooped hood.
Outfitted with a pair of aluminum heads and a roller cam, the
engine is fed by a Holley Demon 4-barrel carburetor perched on an
aluminum intake manifold and is in great running form, starting up
promptly and pulling with all the strength you'd expect, given its
substantial displacement. With its long tube headers leading to
dual exhaust that terminates in a pair of chambered mufflers, a tap
on the accelerator yields just the right deep, throaty note you'd
want in a big block classic like this. The added rear sway bar
increases this muscle car's agility while cornering, and with both
power steering and four-wheel power brakes on board, it's also a
breeze to navigate and stop.
