Introduced in 1957, the XK 150 presented a plethora of changes from lessons learned by Jaguar’s engineers who made the XK 120 and XK 140 models. Jaguar offered its new car as a fixed-head coupe and drophead coupe when production began, but the most desirable body style, the roadster, would not enter production until 1958. By the time the XK 150 hit showroom floors, it was clear that Jaguar had a fantastic automobile on its hands, one that was full of British charm and sophistication.
The darling of the XK 150 line was undoubtedly the 3.4 S Roadster. Powered by a 3.4- liter version of Jaguar’s dual-overhead camshaft straight-six, this engine put out a remarkable 265 hp, which powered the Roadster to a top speed of over 135 mph. Jaguar also fitted it with four-wheel disc brakes, a first for any production car, ensuring that any driver could quickly bring the most powerful iteration of the XK 150 to a stop. Equipped as such, these were undoubtedly fantastic cars to drive with the top down through the English countryside.
A left-hand-drive example, which belies its sparing use, there is not one nut/ bolt or piece of plating that has not been replaced are polished, tens of thousands of hours to bring this Jaguar to what you see today. Stored its entire life in a proper humidity-controlled environment as pictured. The final development of the successful XK range, the XK150 debuted in 1957 and was updated with a one-piece curved windshield and a higher beltline, among other revisions. The XK150 was available in either standard or Special Equipment tune, and by late 1959, the 3.4- and 3.8-litre engines could be ordered either with twin SU HD8 carburetors or as triple-carbureted “S” versions. As performance increased, with top speeds approaching 140 mph, so did the demands for more effective braking, and accordingly, the XK150 became the first series-production car to feature power-assisted four-wheel Dunlop disc brakes. The XK150S was truly a glorious swan song for the series, and today it remains as capable, attractive and desirable as ever. There was no expense spared in this Concourse condition Restored correct Jaguar. XK 150S.
