receipts back to 1963. The car was previously fully restored and is
mechanically excellent. Garage kept and documented service history
makes this car a rare find.Recently acquired from a collector who
held ownership to this fine Corvette for many years. The car has
been serviced by the Chevrolet dealership with receipts from 1963.
The engine bay was detailed back to original. The trunk area is
highly detailed with correct spare, tools, jack, instructions tag,
and trunk mat. The top frame was restored and the hubcaps are
polished with nice spinner caps. The car rides on the correct
Firestone Deluxe Champion WWW tires. The car even has the original
Side windows and original storage case. The side windows are
original to the car as well. The car boasts the original Blue Flame
6 Cylinder engine. The engine code is F 54 and is the original
motor for this car. All Three carburetors still have the original
tags on them. We have receipts for the engine rebuild as well. The
car runs and drives flawlessly. All gauges and lights operate
correctly.Documentation includes a binder full of restoration and
service receipts. The service receipts date back to 1963 and are
from a Chevrolet dealership in Virginia. The car also has owners
manual, miscellaneous booklets and corvette club membership
books.Restored to NCRS standards, this Polo White 1954 Chevrolet
Corvette is one very correct early Vette example before Zora
Arkus-Duntov recast the car as a V-8-powered performer. Carrying
VIN #2522, it reportedly has almost all of the correct components
for its build timeframe, including what is asserted to be the
original 235.5 cu in inline six engine and 2 speed Powerglide
automatic transmission. It was reportedly part of several prominent
collections over the years and was restored in the mid-1980s. After
acquiring the car in 2019, the seller had it repainted and
installed a number of more date-code-correct powertrain components.
Additional service needs were also addressed, including a new
battery, refreshed brake system and more, bringing the early Vette
up to apparently show-worthy and road-worthy condition. Reportedly
all three carburetors were recently rebuilt (including correct
choke cable brackets), along with a valve adjustment, new plugs and
wires. The original-style ignition points were replaced with a
Pertronix electronic ignition and complementing coil. Additionally,
the radiator hoses were replaced with correct reproduction parts,
along with a new thermostat. Previous ownership also replaced the
fuel pump and starter with date-code-correct parts, as well as
replaced the battery with a correct 6-volt battery.Reportedly
repainted in the Eighties with original-style lacquer-based paint,
which was showing its age when the seller purchased the car in
2019, it was resprayed the correct Polo White with modern base
coat/clear coat materials but not before a few fiberglass repairs
were made to the body. The seller notes the car was properly
color-sanded and buffed to a flat, smooth and striking appearance,
with no noted blemishes. Previous ownership also notes that all of
the weather stripping was replaced after the paintwork, with
currently available reproduction material, but due the side
curtains and the style of convertible top attachments, please note
it will leak water. The side windows are the original, unrestored
Plexiglas and show well, and are date coded. The top is in very
good condition, and the side curtains and storage bag are believed
to be original to the car, and are also in very good condition for
their age. Inside, the condition of the red interior is reported to
be like new, according to the seller, wearing older Al Knoch
reproduction seat covers. There is a small blemish on the driver?s
seat bottom, but the rest of the upholstery, including the door
panels, is said to be show-ready. The carpet was replaced in 2019.
The heater is functional and all of the gauges are reported to work
normally, including the clock and distributor-driven tachometer.
The car also retains its original, 6-volt, tube-type Wonderbar AM
radio, with a single speaker along with the radio that was rebuilt
this past winter. The radio was recently serviced and reportedly
works normally, with improvements that enhance its sound. According
to previous ownership, the chassis and suspension have been
maintained in stock condition, with no history of any rust in the
frame. Recent service and updates since 2019 include replacement of
the original-style Delco spiral shocks with modern replacements
tuned to perform with the Coker American Classic vintage-look
radial tires on which the Corvette rides. Additionally, all of the
suspension bushings have been replaced and the brake system was
overhauled, with a new master cylinder, wheel cylinders, hoses,
shoes, hardware and fluid. The original Delco master cylinder was
retained and goes with the car. As noted, the car rolls on Coker
wide whitewall radial tires, which were mounted on reproduction
steel wheels and installed in spring 2020. The car also comes with
a set Firestone Deluxe Champion bias-ply tires mounted on correct
and rare riveted 15-inch steel wheels. The car is said to drive,
turn and stop well, with no known issues. Additional paperwork for
this 1954 Chevrolet Corvette includes a notebook with repair
receipts and documents from 1963 through the end of the 1980s. The
seller believes the second owner purchased the car in 1963 and
started the paper trail. It was sold to a collector in Colorado in
the 1990s, and then to another collector in Texas. According to
these records, it appears few miles have been added to the odometer
since its restoration in the 1980s. The seller?s focus on making
the car even more production-correct has apparently elevated its
appearance and authenticity.
