*1962 Chevrolet Corvette Custom*1962 marks the final year of C1
Corvette production, which started in 1953 and set the model on the
path to becoming America's sports car. The C1 established the
Corvette nameplate with its fiberglass body construction, two-seat
layout, and exciting driving characteristics at a reasonable price,
forming the foundation for all Corvette generations that followed.
This 1962 example benefits from a long list of upgrades, which
transform it into a car that combines classic good looks and modern
performance. The exterior is finished in Adrenaline Red 2-Stage
paint and fitted with an Al Knoch Stayfast black canvas top. For
the final years of C1 production, the classic design which had
debuted in 1956 was updated with color-matched side coves, and a
rear end that hinted at what was to come with the C2. This example
sits on a new set of Schott billet wheels with modern tires which
are inspired by wheels that could have been fitted to a Corvette in
period, but with larger sizing to make room for the disc brakes. On
the inside, the car has been entirely reupholstered in black, using
the highest-quality leather and new tight-weave carpets throughout.
A new center console was installed, along with a new dashboard,
filled with Dakota Digital gauges, and a Vintage Air climate
control system to keep you cool during the hottest summer days. All
of this work has recently been completed and the interior quality
absolutely matches that of the rest of the vehicle.Power for this
Corvette is provided by a 6.2-liter GM Performance LS3 V8, paired
with a 4L65E automatic transmission. Fuel injection and modern
engine management add both reliability and performance, and
servicing is remarkably simple too. Additional mechanical updates
include a custom upgraded suspension, power rack-and-pinion
steering, Wilwood power disc brakes, and a Positraction rear end.
The original wiring harness was replaced by a new unit from
American Autowire. All of these upgrades make the car more
dependable, faster and just an all-around more fun car to toss
around on your favorite backroad. The C1 Corvette remains an icon in
the car world even more than 70 years after its debut. This takes
the most refined variant of the C1, and turns it into an exciting,
almost modern feeling sports car. With its fuel injected engine,
air conditioning and 4L65E automatic transmission, this is a car
that could be driven every day when the weather is nice, and get
attention from people everywhere. Don't spend the time tracking
down a C1 to modify it yourself, this car is finished and has been
tested to ensure it is ready to go!*Key Features* * 6.2-liter LS3
