The 1952 Studebaker Cargo Truck was part of Studebaker's 2R Series
produced from 1949 to 1953. The 2R Series trucks blended utility
with distinctive car-like styling.
Fully Restored 2R5 with Upgrades -
This 1952 Studebaker Cargo truck has been fully restored and mildly
customized for fun and function. The solid, straight cab/body
received a careful respray in 2016 and is outstanding. All vinyl
signage lettering is easily removable (assuming you do not plan to
provide Studebaker Parts/Service). Add a 2-piece windshield,
classic grill, chrome/stainless accents and old-school 15" steel
wheels with full wheel covers and the result is a great look. The
custom interior was also very well thought-out. A comfortable pair
of Ford Escort EXP bucket seats are upholstered with red fabric,
and the refinished dash houses a mix of factory and AutoMeter
gauges. The original Studebaker 'Climatizer' heater is fully
functional, and all window glass is in good condition (side windows
are tinted). The cargo section of the panel truck is carefully
revived and features a custom vinyl convertible roof with marine
fiberglass bows, swing-out tailgate, (3) vinyl curtains, custom
carpeting and a spalted 'ambrosia maple' floor w/aluminum bed
strips.
Powered by Dependable 302ci Ford Windsor -
The detailed engine compartment is home for a '80s Ford 302ci
Windsor. The engine has been rebuilt to stock specs and is equipped
with a 2-barrel carburetor and Ford Duraspark ignition (with spare
module). Cooling is managed by an HD radiator with Chrysler
'pusher' fan, and all electrics have been converted to a 12-volt
system. The Windsor is backed by a Ford AOD 4-speed automatic
transmission and 8.8" differential. This is a solid, dependable
drivetrain.
Serious Chassis Modifications -
The 2R5-12 Studebaker chassis is fitted with beam front suspension
and manual steering. New Eaton-Detroit HD front leaf springs/shocks
have been installed, and the rear leaf springs have been slightly
lowered. New bushings and Stengel u-joints have been installed. The
braking system has been upgraded with a dual master cylinder and a
new Turner front disc brake conversion package. Rear brakes are
drum units, and the original 18-gallon Studebaker fuel tank is in
outstanding condition.
This is a very rare Studebaker Cargo truck that will not be in our
inventory long.
ALL VEHICLES SOLD "AS IS". TRUE MILEAGE UNKNOWN UNLESS OTHERWISE
