Owning a luxury car could make someone feel a little high-class.
Owning a European luxury car might take someone to another
level-and that's exactly the vibe this 1985 Mercedes-Benz 380
delivers. Not only is it a true European luxury machine, but it's
also a sharp-looking classic. Finished in a soothing soft gray, the
paint pairs perfectly with the factory-style 15-inch Mercedes
wheels. The body and frame are solid, the lines are straight, and
there's just enough of a sporty look mixed in to keep things
interesting. This car comes with both a removable hard top and a
convertible soft top, and of course, they can both be taken down to
enjoy the open air whenever you want.
Inside, the interior presents well for its age and carries that
unmistakable Mercedes feel. The light and dark gray color scheme is
accented by Burl Wood trim. The original-style steering wheel feels
right at home, the gauges are clear and easy to read, and the
center console and center stack are in good condition. The carpets
are decent and protected by large floor mats, while the door panels
and door jambs remain clean and solid. The leather bucket seats
include a comfortable center armrest, and despite being a
convertible, the carpeted trunk still offers more cargo space than
many other convertibles do.
Under the hood sits a fuel-injected 3.8-liter V8 that appears
stock, but runs like a well-maintained engine should. Power is sent
through a 4-speed automatic transmission to a stock-style Mercedes
rear axle. A smooth, confident ride is accomplished with an
independent double wishbone suspension setup in the front and an
independent diagonal-pivot swing axle in the rear. 15-inch Mercedes
wheels are bolted on at all four corners, while Copper CS4 Touring
215/60R15 tires hug the road tightly. For stopping power, ABS power
disc brakes are used all the way around, and a stock Mercedes
exhaust is used to let the engine breathe properly.
