1999 F250 XLT Super Duty Supercab 4x4 Short Bed Pickup
"The 1999 Ford F-250 Super Duty was the first model year of the
first generation, (1999-2007), Super Duty lineup, which was a major
departure from the standard F-150 and previous heavy duty models.
The Super Duty trucks were designed for serious towing and work
applications, featuring a stronger frame, larger engines, and
improved suspension compared to the light-duty F-150."
Hillbillyautosupply.com. The XLT trim was marketed for personal and
work use with extra features for a budget friendly price.

Exterior
Two stage Toreador Red is offset by lots of black features
including the bumpers, riveted wheel flares, matte hood stripe,
visor, and back rack. There's an impressive gap between those
flares and the 20-inch Fuel Wheels, also black and carrying LT
rated all terrain tires. Up front, a bull bar resides between red
shackles and frames a pair of LED fog lights, all under a mesh
style grille, hood scoop, wide side mirrors, and smoked cab lights.
Out back, a meaty trailer hitch rests under the tailgate that is
flanked by Altezza style tail lights, while the tubular back rack
houses even more lights and frames a patriotic American eagle
graphic that covers the rear window that looks out over a carpeted
and clean bed. The paint and accessories are in great shape and
imperfections are limited to a slightly askew marker lights in
front and a blemished and loose hood scoop.
Interior
Open the door and stairs automatically move into place so you can
scale the height while saddle and brown plastic door panels on all
four doors present cleanly with a missing speaker cover on one and
ding in another, but otherwise intact. The entrance leads to saddle
cloth bucket seats, now fully covered in front with black
aftermarket pieces and the rear bench is similarly treated. Our
steering wheel also wears a black and red cover and leads to a
basic instrument cluster while in the center, a screen operates the
AM/FM/CD player over the triple dial pack of the A/C panel. A
center console shows some patina and so too does the headliner
above. Black carpet floods the floor and is protected by
WeatherTech coverings.
Drivetrain
Under the hood is a driver quality 6.8 liter SOHC V10, rated at 305
horsepower. It's fuel injected and mated to a 4R100 4-speed
automatic transmission that routes power to the Dana 50 front end
and Ford Sterling 10.5 axle in back.
Undercarriage
Relatively clean and accessible, the underside has the typical
surface rust and dry conditions. Dual exhaust comes from headers up
front, through MagnaFlow mufflers, and out through twin tips on
each side behind the rear wheels. There are no catalytic converters
on board. Power disc brakes are at all four wheels and heavy duty
leaf springs are also employed front and rear.
Drive-Ability
Commanding doesn't begin to describe the view from on high, and
it's likely you'll be on the same level as the school bus next to
you! The V10 puts out good power and a nice exhaust note, while the
knobby tires roll merrily along on the asphalt and would probably
have no problem with a little bit of mud too. This started life as
a no frills working truck and as such, the limited features all
work as intended, and we return this boss back to the mall to find
a spot in the truck showroom. While Classic Auto Mall represents
that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we
cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of
your purchase.
Large and in charge never looked so good. This big rig is
tastefully accessorized and is clean inside and out. Call it the
Swiss Army knife of commuting, it can climb, pull, handle trails
and potholes, and get you from A to B with a visually exciting
ride. And if it's off roading you seek, here's your ticket into
Wheelin' nation!
