INTRODUCTION: The real deal! VIN # matching, documented by the
Marti Report and Shelby registry. This is the 24th Shelby made in
1969! Only 129 in these colors, but what really makes it rare and
desirable is the fact it's a 4-speed with air conditioning! Only
71,520 actual miles as indicated in the registry and on the
previous title. Investment grade!
EXTERIOR: The Shelby styling changes truly separated itself from
the Mustangs. Distinctive fiberglass features were on everything
except the roof and the doors! Upfront a wide open grill and a hood
with 5 air ducts feed as much air as possible to the 351. The
extended front fenders, dovetail trunk and quarter panel scoops are
also fiberglass and add to the good looks of this car. Upfront
features correct Lucas fog lamps and in back is a set of sequential
taillights borrowed from the 65 Thunderbird. The body is believed
to be original and is straight with no rust or damage. The car has
a really nice repaint of its very desirable factory Pastel Gray
color, (yes it looks white). The paint is smooth to the touch and
has a really nice shine. The blue side stripes are reflective and
really pop! The glass appears to be original and in great
condition. The brightwork has a lustrous shine and I believe it's
mostly original. The front grille and tail lights also look to be
original and in great condition. The center mounted cast aluminum
exhaust tips are one of my favorites of all time. It's sitting
pretty on a gorgeous set of 15" cast aluminum Shelby rims with
chrome lips. They are wrapped in a set of reproduction Firestone
Wide Oval tires.
INTERIOR: This is a very original and unabused interior that looks
absolutely fantastic. The original black vinyl knit seats present
wonderfully and I don't see a split or rip anywhere. It's equipped
with the optional fold-down rear seat that doesn't look like it was
ever sat in. It also has Shelby seat belts throughout and shoulder
belts in the front that are attached to the Shelby roll bar. The
Shelby center console is original and is complete with armrest,
gauges, toggle switches and a 4-speed! The original climate
controls and radio are still in place. I do not see any cracks on
the dash pad and the bezels are in fantastic condition. Showing
only 71,520 original documented miles on the odometer. It has a
working clock on the passenger side and factory gauges including a
tachometer. It also has a tilt steering column with the original
steering wheel and rim blow horn. The deluxe door panels also
appear to be original with a remote toggle for the driver side
mirror and speakers in the lower section of each side. The rear
view mirror and sun visors are definitely original. The headliner
is original and a great shape but does have a couple of the
stitched seams pulling apart, it's still very presentable.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: The original VIN # matching 351 cubic inch ram
air V8 is still in place. It is equipped with the correct air
cleaner, Shelby intake manifold, ribbed Cobra aluminum valve
covers, and much more. The factory air conditioning pump and
distributor are still in place. It is also outfitted with power
steering and power brakes. All the components look clean and
proper, the hoses and belts have been replaced. It has an Autolite
radiator hose, heat riser tube and date coded spark plug wires too.
The battery is properly secured plus the horns and squirters are
hooked up. The underside of the fiberglass Ram Air Hood,
fenderwells, and firewall are all neatly painted satin black.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: The underside of the trunk lid and inside the
jamb are neatly painted Pastel Gray just like the exterior. The
weatherstrip looks original but is still soft and pliable. It also
has the original spare tire inflation instructions sticker which is
too cool. Inside is the actual space saver spare tire, lug wrench,
jack assembly, and vinyl mat. Under the mat is all solid rust-free
steel with what appears to be an original textured finish paint. It
also has a working trunk light. The interior can be accessed easily
through a fold down hatch.
UNDERSIDE: The underbody, floors, frame rails, and rockers appear
to be as dry as a chalkboard. It's got original metal and lived in
Texas most of its life. The steering and suspension have been
rebuilt as needed and works great. Our shop just inspected and
replaced the lower control arms. The rear shocks appear to be new
and the car just had a front end alignment. Of course it has disc
brakes in front and drums in back with a hooked up e-brake
assembly. It also has a fresh exhaust system with the crossover
pipe, resonators, transverse muffler, and exits in the center
through cast aluminum exhaust tips. The fuel tank and sending unit
appear to be new. When looking up at the engine it's fresh and has
the correct components. It also has the correct four speed manual
transmission and 9 inch posi rear end with 3.25 gears.
SERVICE: We take pride in our cars and reputation. Therefore, we
built a 2 million dollar, 10,000 square ft service center, and
hired a team of technicians to service the essentials on every car
we sell.
CONCLUSION: I'm in love! This authentic and highly documented
Shelby has the originality and the options to be considered
investment grade. If you buy and you are guaranteed to look cool,
have fun, and be financially smart all at the same time!
