The signs are all there that the restorer of this 1953 Chevrolet
3100 5 Window had obviously high standards and also put a high
premium on era-appropriate aesthetics. Dressed in pristine Mariner
Blue paint that's complemented by unblemished chrome from front to
back, this is one sharp-looking vintage pickup truck, an
outstanding representative of its era. It looks like it was meant
to wear that distinctive, tranquil shade from the start and,
judging by its slick texture and deep shine, the paint was applied
only a little while back at the hands of a skilled professional.
Its short bed configuration gives it a stout, capable appearance.
If you take a look in the back, you'll see that the bed has been
upgraded with wood paneling and, with its refurbishment done so
recently, there are no scratches or dents to be found.
The interior is in very clean condition and echoes the same
optimized vintage theme shown outside the doors. You'll find no
signs of wear on the burgundy vinyl bench seat, and the door panels
sit nicely against their surrounding steel. Up front, the
instrument panel has also been revitalized while retaining its
convincingly original appearance, with clear, easily readable
gauges standing by to broadcast their readings. An AM/FM stereo
with an auxiliary port and Bluetooth connectivity, one of the few
other deviations from stock configuration, has been seamlessly
recessed into the dash to provide a wider range of audio
options.
This outstanding classic is powered by a period-correct
216-cubic-inch Thriftmaster 3100 inline 6-cylinder that's running
in impressive form. It sits in a very clean and well-organized
engine compartment, paired with a 3-speed manual transmission that
shifts without issue to form a drivetrain with rock-solid
functionality, which is truly hard to come by in a vehicle from
this era. The select group of mechanical modifications that have
been made were done so to increase dependability without affecting
the overall appearance, including an upgraded carburetor that
allows this vintage ride to run on ethanol, an electronic ignition
for stronger sparks and better efficiency, and a modern 12-volt
electrical system that's far more reliable than the original. The
entire fuel system, including the gas tank, has also been
replaced.
