This 1965 Shelby Cobra CSX 6000 roadster is powered by a 427ci Ford
FE side-oiler V8 engine paired with a Tremec TKO600 5-speed manual
transmission and was constructed in 2013 by Shelby Automobiles,
Inc., as an official CSX6000-series component vehicle. The aluminum
427 FE block is engineered to be lighter and stronger than original
cast-iron units and features side-oiler lubrication architecture
designed to prioritize crankshaft oiling under high load. The
chassis utilizes a computer-designed steel frame with dual A-arm,
four-wheel independent suspension and coilover dampers, maintaining
original Cobra geometry while benefiting from modern materials and
improved structural integrity. Equipment includes correct
Halibrand-style pin-drive wheels fitted with Goodyear tires,
independent suspension, period-correct braking components, a
stainless-steel rollbar, black quick-jack mounts, and authentic
exterior and interior detailing. The cockpit features a
reverse-sweep speedometer, period-style instrumentation and a
Derrington-type wood-rim steering wheel, reflecting correct 427 S/C
specification. Built using original Shelby blueprints and
engineering intent, the CSX6000-series Cobra represents a
factory-sanctioned continuation of the big-block Cobra built to
modern manufacturing standards while preserving the mechanical
character and design of the original 1960s cars.
