"If you read our special Corvette issue, you know that, here at
Motor Trend, we love Corvettes and consider the '03 Z06 the best
Corvette to date. Why? Because it's an exotic car, fast and allows
you to run with all the big boys from Europe at a fraction of their
exotic car prices. And, while we wish Chevy would build the Z06
using the sexier glass hatch coupe body, we still love it for its
unmistakable, all American "I'm a badass" attitude." Motor Trend,
July 2003
For consignment, a 2003 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 coupe with a title
verified 37,579 actual miles. C5 Z06's remain some of the hottest
cars in the collector world and often don't spend enough time at
the mall to attract dust, so if you're thinking about it, don't
linger too long!
Exterior
The sleek C5 body style is only made sleeker by the black paint and
like the point of a Sharpie pen, this wedge shaped speed demon cuts
through the wind with a narrow nose and steeply raked windshield.
Functional body features are slightly muted including the heat
extracting duct on the front fender and the brake cooling duct on
the dogleg, and a black Z06 is stealthier than the other colors.
But the quad tail lights out back pop off the end piece while the
fantastic quad exhaust makes their usual ground hugging appearance.
Staggered size tires are used on staggered sized Z06 wheels, here
in argent gray with red calipers peeking through. Imperfections on
this well preserved Vette include some spots on the hood, paint
damage on the front, rear fender, and decklid, along with various
chips, scratches, a nasty deep scuff on the rocker panel, and some
curb rash.
Interior
Solid black on the inside too where the door panels and their
rubber topped switches appear clean and intact. Tall black leather
seats wear a red embroidered Z06 emblem and are in nice shape as
well with the driver's seat showing usage wrinkles in the leather
but no tears. Monochromatic and analog, the instrument cluster and
surrounding appointments provide an ergonomic cockpit with no
distractions and only the essential information. There is an
AM/FM/CD player over the integrated A/C panel and both have digital
readouts in familiar green illumination. The shifter and center
console are very clean and the low pile charcoal carpet that covers
the floor and lines the trunk are nearly impeccable.
Drivetrain
Bright red covers flank the undulating plastic plenum and dress up
this clean engine bay where a 5.7 liter LS6 V8 resides, pumping out
an astounding 405 horsepower and rowing gears through a Tremec T56
6-speed manual transmission, the only transmission offered in
Z06's. It sends power to the rear axle with 3.42 gears and limited
slip.
Undercarriage
Clean underneath with only road spray and metal color changes
showing use. Dual exhaust runs through original equipment on its
way to the legendary center exit, and power disc brakes are on all
four corners. Suspension consists of the race inspired SLA double
wishbone configuration with transverse mounted composite springs
and monotube shock absorbers.
Drive-Ability
The heads up display is not working according to our consignor. We
confirm, but honestly, when you're behind the wheel of this car,
thoughts immediately turn to what works and that includes
astounding power, comfortable seats, and of course, insane
handling. This is, after all, a track car for the street. All other
functions on this always impressive model work as they should and
we return to the mall to find a temporary spot under the lights for
this desirable car. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these
functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot
guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your
purchase.
Do you want to be fast or furious? Buy this car and you'll have fun

website. We're keeping it short here so you can make the call!
