This 1962 Ford Econoline cargo van is a charming early example of Ford’s first-generation compact work van, originally finished in Baffin Blue and repainted the same under prior ownership. Used as an advertisement and delivery vehicle for an art gallery in New Mexico for approximately two decades beginning in the 1980s, we acquired it in 2025 and have drastically improved it mechanically. We had planned to use for our vintage furniture business, but our work has changed course so we sadly have to part with this retro charmer.

Power comes from a 170ci inline-six paired with a column-shifted three-speed manual transmission. The van features 14″ steel wheels with chrome Ford hubcaps, West Coast-style mirrors, four aluminum awning windows, and right-side and rear cargo doors.

Recent Maintenance & Upgrades under our ownership:

• New radiator and hoses
• New gas tank
• Installed electric fuel pump
• New fuel filter
• New rear brake cylinders
• New electronic voltage regulator
• Replaced valve cover gasket
• Engine oil service (new oil and filter/seal)
• New turn signal assembly
• Rebuilt fuel gauge and temperature gauge
• Installed insulated engine cover & seal for reduced cabin noise and heat management
• Installed NOS door lock & ignition cylinders – one key for all
• Replaced window felts on driver and passenger windows
• Replaced license plate lights

Additional Details: The van rides on 205/75 Hankook Kinergy ST tires installed in 2022. The braking system was previously refreshed with new shoes, lines, and master cylinder, and the generator was replaced in 2023.

Inside, the cabin features blue vinyl bucket seats, a Delco Super Deluxe AM radio, lap belts, and hand-crank windows. Typical wear includes small tears in the seat vinyl and aging on the sunvisors and headliner, consistent with its age and originality.

Instrumentation includes a 100-mph speedometer and functioning gauges for fuel level and engine temperature, along with warning lights for oil pressure and charging.

The van runs smooth, starts reliably thanks to the electric fuel pump, and has loads of period charm. It’s a head turner!
