This 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing Coupe is powered by its correct 3.0-liter M198 fuel-injected inline-6 engine paired with a 4-speed manual transmission. Completed at the factory in Germany on August 12, 1955, and delivered new to the United States, the car retains its matching-numbers chassis, body, engine, differential and steering box. It was originally purchased in Belmont, CA, and passed through a limited number of long-term owners before entering careful storage in the late 1970s. The car was subsequently entrusted to Hjeltness Restoration for a complete ground-up restoration completed in 2008 to factory-correct standards, with every system addressed, including drivetrain, suspension, interior, paint, chrome, hardware and fasteners.
