For Sale at Auction: 1969 Ford Country Sedan in Scottsdale, Arizona

Vehicle Description

This 1969 Ford Country Sedan is a re-creation of the "Wagon Queen Family Truckster" seen in the 1983 film "National Lampoon's Vacation," starring Chevy Chase and Beverly D'Angelo portraying Clark and Ellen Griswold. Chronicling the Griswold family's painful "family bonding" highway road trip, the film also starred one of the most visually challenged automotive monstrosities ever conceived - the "Wagon Queen Family Truckster." Styled similar to a Ford LTD station wagon, this vehicle is sometimes derided by some commentators as the real reason station wagons were cast aside for minivans in the 1980s. Garish and equipped with nearly every tacky luxury car cliche known to man at the time, the original Truckster was designed by George Barris. Five were created for the movie, primarily for the many horrendous stunts. Based on a proper Ford LTD station wagon and featuring painful (to some eyes) Pale Avocado paint, this faithfully executed replica of the "Wagon Queen Family Truckster" movie vehicle is equipped with a Ford big-block 390ci V8 engine and a 3-speed automatic transmission. The full Family Truckster conversion included the faux wood-grain panels, identification logos and badges, as well as roof racks, "Aunt Edna" body, luggage and even plates from the fictional selling dealer, Lou Glutz Motors.
