This 1963 Ford Galaxie 500XL convertible is a factory G-code
example powered by its original 406ci V8 engine rated at 405hp and
equipped with three 2-barrel carburetors, an engine option offered
during the 1963 model year before the introduction of the 427.
Power is delivered through a BorgWarner T10 4-speed manual
transmission that has been rebuilt using NOS Ford internal gears
and components, backed by a factory 4.11 rear axle with an
Equa-Lock differential. The interior has been fully restored to
original factory specifications, including period-correct materials
and details, and is equipped with a Rotunda 8,000-rpm tachometer
and Ford oval script metal-to-metal seat belts offered for 1963.
The exterior retains its original structure with no history of
rust, and the car received a selective restoration focused on
factory correctness, including the installation of NOS body trim
components and professional refinishing of chrome and stainless
trim where required. Additional factory and period-correct
equipment includes five original K&H 15x5.5-inch
high-performance steel wheels, original 1963-1964 XL wheel covers,
a Ford dealer engine dress-up kit with chrome components and NOS
Ford accessory bumper guards. The car was assembled at Ford's Los
Angeles, CA, assembly plant and originally delivered to Phoenix,
AZ, under DSO 75, later residing in California and Florida prior to
acquisition by the current owner in 1998, who has maintained it in
a temperature-controlled indoor environment. Documentation includes
prior ownership records, original magazine features, owner manuals,
an original 1963 Ford Galaxie brochure, a convertible top boot,
extra keys and a VHS recording from its 1998 offering. 54,500
actual miles.
