1928 Chevrolet National
4 door convertible parade car.
Currently registered and insured
A 98 year old car in original condition is a sight to behold. Driving it down Main Street would be a privilege that very few people will ever experience.
I am only the second owner since the restoration in the 1970’s so it is possible there have only been 3, or 4 owners in the car’s entire history.
The car was “on loan” to a museum for decades until the Curator’s discovered it had no local significance. It was just a fascinating old car. The Owner had long passed and the surviving family member instructed the Museum to sell it.
Old Chevrolet’s are particularly rare because the body components are metal over wood which made them vulnerable to rot and decay. As you would expect from a life time in a climate controlled environment, the wood pieces are in perfect condition. The convertible cloth top is in excellent condition and the sheet metal, and paint, are exactly what you would expect from a vehicle on display at a museum.
Seats were recovered in 1970’s vinyl but mechanical components of the car are all period correct. This includes the 6-volt electrical system, cloth insulated wiring, electric starter with a hand crank back up. Brass oil and fuel lines, the list goes on.
This car is an incredible example of the advanced engineering of the time. Not far removed from the horse and buggy era, the mechanical systems have been refined but have not changed significantly in almost 100 years.
This is a display car and should only be taken out for special occasions but if for some reason you would like to turn this into a hot rod, I have 2 parts vehicles that may be better candidates.
