Originally distributed by P.C. Southwest, San Antonio, Texas,
through McKenzie VW Inc. and sold to W.H. Price Jr. in Corpus
Christi, Texas, on May 10, 1968. Finished in the original color
combination of Tangerine (color code 6809) with Black upholstery,
the last year of the short-wheelbase with five-gauges. Original
options listed on the Porsche Kardex include tinted windows, chrome
bumperettes with rubber buffers, Koni shock absorbers,
chrome-plated wheels, fog lamps, Blaupunkt Frankfurt AM/FM radio,
loudspeaker, and an antenna.
According to the past owner, this 912 was stored in a garage in
Palos Verdes, California, for several decades and had not been
driven for some time. The previous owner purchased it in 2018 and
commissioned Einmalig LTD in Huntington Beach, California, to
perform a complete engine rebuild, install a power window system,
power door locks, and a Kenwood touch-screen head unit with
Bluetooth hands-free and a reverse backup camera.
In 2025, European Collectibles purchased this 912, and our team did
a complete undercarriage detail, including the floor pans and
suspension, to factory specification. All of the gauges were
checked, cleaned, and restored. A complete color correction was
done, and the 912 was partially disassembled, color-sanded,
polished, and new deco trim was installed. The interior was
reupholstered, including a new dash, front and rear seats, German
carpets, correct 1968-only door panels, rear side panels, and a
package shelf. Mechanically, the braking system was rebuilt, the
fuel systems were gone through, and the engine was fully tuned and
test driven. The result is a superb mechanical condition that is a
pleasure to drive.
Powered by a 1600cc flat-four engine producing 95 hp (Type 616/39),
paired with a 5-speed manual transmission (Type 902/02) with
four-wheel disc braking system. Offered with a Porsche Kardex, tool
kit, jack, spare wheel, and recent service records. An excellent
opportunity to acquire a short-wheelbase 912 finished in a stunning
original color combination in beautiful condition!
