For Sale at Auction: 1930 Ford 5-Window Coupe in Scottsdale, Arizona

This 1930 Ford 5-Window Custom Coupe was built by Jesse James for Paul Teutul of "American Chopper." It is powered by a 1953 Chrysler 331ci HEMI engine equipped with a Weiand three-deuce intake, three Stromberg 97 carburetors, Zoomie headers and a modified adapter system allowing fitment of a 727 Torqueflite automatic transmission. The early HEMI block's integrated bell housing required trimming of the transmission to the pump cover for adaptation, and modifications were made to the center crossmembers to accommodate the wider transmission pan. Power is delivered through a 1957 Ford rear end mounted using a modified Pete & Jakes ladder bar assembly and a buggy spring. The original 1930 Ford chassis, stamped A2764008, was disassembled, squared and fitted with new crossmembers, a dropped and drilled I-beam axle with custom hairpins, and self-energizing Lincoln drum brakes located behind 1940 Ford steel wheels. The body retains its Model A 5-window configuration but was channeled deeply over the frame, and the roof was professionally chopped 2 inches with a hand-formed slightly domed steel insert. Exterior features include a one-off stainless nerf bar surrounding Buick taillights, a twin flat-bar grille insert, and four vintage snowmobile headlights mounted on custom-fabricated stands. The floor and trunk panels were custom-built to accommodate the Moon tank, and extensive metal fabrication was performed throughout. The interior includes a custom steering wheel center and outer hoop hand-built in stainless with a cast clear ring, a matching shift knob, a 1954 Ford dash modified to house gauges behind the glovebox door, and a column and seating layout designed to increase legroom. The vehicle underwent full disassembly for chrome finishing, with components - including fasteners, suspension elements, garnish moldings, backing plates, brackets and hardline fittings - refinished to a uniform standard, resulting in fully polished and refinished metal surfaces throughout.
