here is an excellent example of the fan favorite 70 Series showing
the original factory color Atlantic Blue (Toyota Paint Code 8H6).
Atlantic Blue is a rare and unique color for a 70 series Land
Cruiser (most are white, red or green), and contrasts against the
silver fiberglass removable FRP Top. The HZJ73 was built in limited
quantities in left hand drive for the European market. Most were
used as work trucks or fleet vehicles making a clean example
difficult to source. Not to mention, the full cabrio models are
almost impossible to find. We drove this Land Cruiser as a daily
drive for about a month before listing it for sale, putting about
1000 miles on it in total. This 1999 Toyota Land Cruiser HZJ73 is a
left-hand-drive European-spec model manufactured in November 1998
at the Aichi, Japan Toyota Manufacturing plant. The vehicle was
then shipped to Toyota De Prins in Zulte, Belgium to be offered for
sale. On January 8, 1999 Toyota De Prins sold this Land Cruiser to
DP Coating BVBA (company). The factory service book shows DP
Coating had this LC serviced at the selling dealer. The HZJ73 was
the perfect commercial vehicle for the time period, due to a
favorable tax rate with the lack of rear seats. (Don't worry, if
you need a rear seat we have some here in stock!)Europe and the GCC
were the only markets lucky enough to receive the Japanese
manufactured left-hand-drive 73 equipped with the 1HZ engine. The
1HZ engine has been a workhorse offered by Toyota for over 35 years
due to its reliability and ease of service in the bush, backyard,
or mountain pass. Fewer moving parts and no turbo keep this engine
simple and out on the road.Upgrades and Features:5-Speed

HZJ73 showed up in great mechanical condition. We took it a step
further with an extensive and comprehensive mechanical refresh at
Car Cave USA, addressing critical drivetrain, steering, braking,
cooling, and reliability items to ensure turnkey usability. We
started off by installing a fresh set of Die Hard batteries. The
undercarriage was fully steam-cleaned and inspected to review for
leaks. Our techs inspected the timing belt to find it was recently
replaced (documented with pictures) and the water pump was in
excellent condition. This followed by a resealed engine oil pan,
fresh oil and filter service, new air and fuel filters, and a
complete coolant flush and bleed. The front hubs and axle were
rebuilt using Timken bearings, along with new knuckle components
and pinion seal. The steering system received new tie rod and relay
rod ends, a fresh pinion seal, and an ARB Old Man Emu steering
stabilizer. Rear braking was refreshed with new rotors, pads, and
wheel studs. Additional work included a transfer case seal kit
installation, replacement antenna, new front and rear wiper blades,
and a full undercarriage cleaning. The vehicle was then
professionally detailed inside and out. In total, over $6,400 was
invested in recent mechanical servicing, inspection, and
presentation?resulting in a properly sorted, well-maintained HZJ73
that drives as confidently as it presents. Contact us to review the
complete history and service file. The built-proof 4.2L naturally
aspirated diesel powers this Land Cruiser, mated to a H55F
five-speed manual transmission and a two-speed transfer case. The
smooth-running, ultra-reliable Toyota 1HZ is a 4,164cc single
overhead cam, indirect injection inline 6-cylinder diesel. Toyota
still sells new model cars with configured with this legendary
powerplant with a massive 129 horsepower and 210 lb-ft of torque.
The timing belt has been replaced recently and documented. The
factory Aisin front hubs turning easily and 4WD is operated through
a push button on the dash. The transfer case is floor-shifted for
low-range situations and the rear differential is a 4.111:1 ratio
with limited slip for when the terrain gets tough.Aftermarket
upgrades on this Land Cruiser are minimal, limited to an
aftermarket horn, Boss head unit (not functional), and rear seat
partition for commercial use. Everything else appears to be factory
(or dealer installed) including the rear tow ball and wiring
harness. We love finding unmolested examples and this HZJ73 is
about as original as they come. The tires have been uprated
slightly to a 275/70R16 Pirelli Scorpion All Terrain with a full
size matching spare. The full size spare was given extra room for
the additional tire width (factory was a bit narrower) through the
use of a spacer. The dark gray carpets and gray patterned cloth
interior have some imperfections. The driver's seat does have a
very small tear on the bottom cushion, the rear carpets have been
removed, and the cargo area door cards and trim have wear from use.
We do have a complete set of CNC Aluminum panels if the buyer
wishes to upgrade.Factory options include power locks, power
steering, a center console, hand crank windows, tilt steering
wheel, rear barn doors, rear wiper, digital clock, and rear
defrost. Running boards and a rear step help you enter and exit the
vehicle from all sides gracefully while mudflaps keep your pant
legs clean after playing out in the mucky muck. The removable top,
fold-down windshield and rear half doors (removable top glass) make
this a versatile platform, and several aftermarket suppliers offer
soft top kits. The windshield also folds down onto the hood?perfect
for a throwback overlanding experience with the wind in your face.
Car Cave is extremely familiar with 70 Series Land Cruisers and can
modify them to suit any vision. The rear seats shown in the picture
are not included in the sale as the vehicle was originally built
with no rear seats. We can install them for the buyer at an
additional cost.Body Data Plate Information:Model: HZJ73LV
