Nicely documented "no donor" build
There are few cars as iconic or as instantly recognizable as the
427 Shelby Cobra. With their proper racing pedigree and beautiful
styling, they have been very highly sought after by collectors and
performance enthusiasts alike. This Factory Five 1965 Shelby 427
Cobra is an excellent example of how these replicas are supposed to
be built. No donor parts were used in the build of this excellent
example. Powering this Cobra is an electronically fuel-injected 347
cubic inch stroker V8. The engine started out as a custom CNC'd 331
cubic inch Pro Bullet short block with polished forged rods, forged
DSS pistons and Chromoly piston rings. The engine was then upgraded
with a 347 stroker crank, a Comp Cams Xtreme Energy 232/240
hydraulic roller cam, Trickflow Twisted Wedge aluminum heads,
underdrive pulleys, Holley hi-ram intake, . Transferring the power
to the Ford 8.8" rearend is a Tremec TR3550 5 speed manual
transmission equipped with a Hurst short throw shifter that was
purchased new for this build. The Ford rearend houses a Motive 3:55
final drive gear set. Both the engine and transmission perform just
as they should and deliver the intoxicating driving experience
these well-built Cobra's are known for. Delivering that thunderous
V8 sound are the Factory Five 427 style headers and side pipes. The
Black exterior with painted Silver stripes in excellent condition
with no major defects to note. The Black leather interior is in
excellent condition with little to no wear present. The interior
has been finished with a period style look with the bomber style
buckets and dash filled with Auto Meter gauges. Another detail to
note is the very well placed pedals. The suspension has been nicely
completed with a custom 4-link rear, front/rear anti-sway bars, and
tubular control arms. These upgrades in combination with the Nitto
NT555 G2 tires allow this Cobra to handle the road very well.
Aiding the drivability of this Cobra is the electronic assist power
steering. Bringing this gorgeous Cobra to a stop is the 4-wheel
disc brake kit by Wilwood Brakes. Included is the binder full of
receipts for the build. Everything about this Factory Five 427
Cobra just screams quality. You will understand how much time and
effort was invested once you take a look and drive this fantastic
example of a 427 Cobra replica.
