This custom 1997 Ford Mustang known as the "Shelby 100Special" is a
documented one-of-one vehicle created by Shelby American in 2017 as
part of a pilot program exploring a bespoke special-project
division. Built from a 1997 Mustang GT, the car was stripped to its
bare shell and refinished in factory-correct Rio Red before being
reassembled using major components from a 1997 Mustang SVT Cobra,
including the 4.6-liter DOHC V8 engine, 5-speed manual
transmission, brakes, suspension, cooling system and interior. To
meet Shelby performance standards, a period-correct supercharger
system was installed, increasing output from the original 305hp to
over 500hp, along with a cat-back exhaust system, Eibach suspension
components, and new coolant and brake lines. The project was
commissioned as a "Shelby that never was," and the finished car was
completed with a unique Shelby "100Special" CSM badge identifying
it as the sole example produced. The concept was ultimately not
continued due to resource demands and shifting priorities at Shelby
American, making this the only vehicle completed under the program
and officially documented in the Shelby Registry. **MAY NOT BE
