Classic Car Addict is proud to present this 1978 GMC Caballero
Sprint for sale in our Mesa, Arizona showroom. The GMC Sprint is a
coupe utility/pickup that was produced by GMC for the 1971-1977
model years. The Sprint was renamed Caballero for the 1978 model
year and produced through 1987. The rear-wheel-drive car-based
pickups were sold by GMC Truck dealers primarily in the United
States and Canada as the GMC version of the Chevrolet El
Camino.
The cabin features upgraded bucket seats with center console
trimmed in ostrich leather. Amenities include air conditioning,
power steering, cruise control, locking glovebox, heated seats,
power locks, and an upgraded Panasonic AM/FM radio. A two-spoke
steering wheel is mounted to a tilt column and frames an 80-mph
speedometer along with auxiliary gauges displaying voltage, oil
pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level. The five-digit
odometer shows 50K miles and the clock is functional.
The car is finished in gold metallic with brown and black
pinstriping, hood vents, matching paint bumpers, black side
mirrors, a wraparound rear window, rhino lined bed, and single
exhaust. The 17" American Racing wheels are mounted to 225/50R17
with DOT of 2025 on the tires. Stopping power is provided by
drilled and slotted power disc for the front and rear. The front
shocks were replaced with tubular A arms with coil and shocks.
The 5.7L V8 features aftermarket Edelbrock aluminum intake
(performer 6073), and a single four-barrel Q-Jet. Recent work
includes new engine belts, new Edelbrock headers, and a new battery
(with battery shut located on the battery). Power is sent to the
rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission.
