Mustang for Kelley Blue Book, consumer sentiment is overwhelmingly
positive, with 95% recommending the vehicle. 1535 out of 1891 of

stars. Overall, consumers seem aligned in their opinions of the
2006 Ford Mustang." Kbb.com
For consignment, a 2006 Ford Mustang GT coupe with a title verified
142,984 actual miles. This one wears a shade of greenish gray paint
and a GT stripe that reads GT 300 which likely indicates
horsepower.
Exterior
Our consignor had this car painted a unique gray tone and when
coupled with some other cosmetic modifications, makes for a Mustang
no one else likely has. The enhancements begin with the high
performance hood with dual intakes up front and dual vents closer
to the cowl, and hood pins holding the fiberglass piece down. Right
up front are inboard rally lights close together in the center of
the grille, replacing the galloping horse. In profile, the 17-inch
Torque Thrust wheels, gray with silver rims, look great and wear
spinners, while a white rocker stripe might confuse a few people
with its "GT 300" display. Intake ducts are in place on the rear
quarter panel and over the rear window, Shelby style, while a
subtle, integrated rear wing is built into the decklid.
Imperfections on the clean exterior includes a spider crack on the
front fender, scuff on the hood, delamination on a wheel, and
random chips and paint runs.
Interior
We'll start on the door panels because this generation was plagued
with perforated inserts that would come loose with a good bit of
consistency and despite clean black plastic door panels, that is
the case here as well.It is pronounced on the lower edge on the
driver's side and on the top on the passengers but we've seen much
worse. Black leather bucket seats with white stitching are in good
shape and the rear 2+2 barely looks used. A cover with some
woodgrain accenting surrounds our steering wheel rim and the
simple, analog instrument cluster is in view of the driver and the
center stack goes more electronic with a generous screen over A/C
dials leading seamlessly to the center console. Slight patina is
evident on the plastic and houses a robust T-shifter, cupholders,
and storage. Black carpet is in good shape on the floor and a
fitted mat in the trunk presents cleanly.
Drive-train
Under the hood is a bay that belies the mileage, housing a 4.6
liter 3 valve V8 boasting 300 horsepower and mated to a 5R55N
5-speed automatic transmission. Power is delivered via pony express
to the Mustang's 8.8" rear with 3.31 gears and TracLoc.
Undercarriage
Some typical metal corrosion exists and some surface rust, but
generally clean underneath. A trailer hitch has been added and is
mounted between the chrome exhaust tips that connect to Street Flow
mufflers as the pipes slide in tandem back to the engine, hitting
an H-pipe just before heading up to the bay. Power disc brakes are
employed on all four wheels and suspension consists of McPherson
struts in front and a 3 link with coil springs and a panhard bar in
back.
Drive-Ability
This pony's obviously been pampered because it remains in good
shape despite turning 20 years old. No runs, no drips, no errors,
asthay say and the car still delivers good power, living up to the
rocker stripes on the sides. All functions, including the AM/FM/CD
unit, operate as intended and it's back to the okay corral for this
one! While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were
working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these
functions will be working at the time of your purchase.
This is a great looking fifth generation Mustang GT in a color not
many, if any, have. It runs well and presents cleanly and is going
to be 300 horses of fun for the next owner. The hood, wheels, and
scoops all add to the outward brawn of this beast so don't be
surprised if that Honda Vtec starts revving his engine at the red
light.
