The Ford Fairlane 500 Skyliner Retractable Hardtop was the second
car in automotive history that was mass produced with the
retractable hardtop. In 1959, the name was changed to Ford Fairlane
500 Galaxie Skyliner. This is a very
good-looking Ford with excellent paint, interior, and mechanics.The
exterior is red and white, and the paint is very sharp. Body is
straight and all trim and chrome present in excellent condition. An
added touch of elegance is the Continental Kit. The retractable
hardtop is in excellent working condition.Interior is a new red and
white interior by ABC. Dash has been repainted and a new
padded dash was added. The carpet is new as well. All interior trim
is in great condition. The factory gauges are backed up with
Aftermarket gauges showing oil pressure, temperature, and
voltage.Engine is the H Code 352 CID and is paired with the
original 3-speed automatic transmission. Both engine and
transmission have been rebuilt. Prior owner added an aluminum
radiator and transmission cooler so the car shifts very
smoothly.Options include heater, electric wipers and
radio. New: weather stripping all the way
around, new brakes, a top of the line rebuilt front end by Kanter.
All front-end components were replaced except for the A arms which
are in great shape.This car is tight and solid and drives with
excellent performance. Last summer it was driven in 100 heat over
mountain passes of 9000 ft elevation with no issues.Prior owner
collected retractable hardtop Fords and this car came out of his
collection. Car resides in Wyoming and available for viewing by
appointment.
