is proud to present this 1949 Mercury 9CM! Mercury Charlie Garage
in Austin, TX conducted a significant makeover. The car had
original taillights procured and re-installed (previously frenched
in), the rear was c-notched, paint stripped, scallops blocked,
painted with PPG Hot Rod Black. At that time, a new Chevrolet LS3
(430 HP) and 4L70E Connect and Cruise crate motor and transmission
package was procured through Scoggin Dickey Performance Parts
Center and transplanted into the car. A Street Rod Engineering
front end kit (Mustang II) was installed. The former Airride
Technologies Airpod kit was replaced with an updated AirLift
Performance 3H air suspension kit with Bluetooth compatibility to
smartphone controls and a new rear Eaton TruTrac differential
installed. In 2019, a Brian Tooley Racing (BTR) Stage 2 LS3 cam was
installed with valve train components, tuned, and chassis dynoed by
Hot Rod Barn in Marengo, Iowa, making ~375 HP and 333 ft lbs. of
torque at the wheels. In June of 2021, new Wilwood Engineering disc
brakes were put on the front, and the drums were removed from the
rear and replaced with a Ford 9" disc brake kit that would
accommodate the clearances. Additionally, a new stall converter was
installed to better accommodate the camshaft upgrade. The car has
vintage air conditioning, power windows, power seats, remote and
mechanical door/trunk poppers and a thumping stereo system with a
10" subwoofer and Bluetooth-compatible Pioneer deck. The odometer
was not reset with the new drivetrain. Also with original 1947
license plates (I have the 49 tags for it as well), and new plug
wires and new custom wide white tires. The LS3/4L70E combo is
estimated to have less than 11,000 miles on it.
