--Ivory with Red Leather Upholstery, Red Square Weave carpeting,
Black Folding soft top, Black top boot/Tonneau, 1.6 Liter Twin plug
Engine, 4 Speed Manual gearbox, documented 6 year restoration and
custom conversion completed in 2019.Starting with a clean 356A
Coupe the entire car was completely disassembled and utilizing
combination of steel and aluminum body panels was converted to
Carrera GT Speedster homage. No stone was left unturned during this
process from the body to the bumpers to the engine lid to the side
view mirror and continued through to the interior and mechanically.
The interior received speedster solid back buckets, Square weave
carpeting, Black rubber mats, red lap belts, Nardi wooden steering
wheel, VDO instruments including a central 8k-rpm tachometer, a
120-mph speedometer, and a combination gauge monitoring oil
temperature and fuel level, Carrera-style twin ignition coil
switches flank the tachometer. Mechanically the upgrades, again,
were plentiful including but not limited to the following,
1.6-liter flat-four that was rebuilt with a conversion to twin-plug
ignition by Willison Werkstatt and is dressed to simulate the
appearance of a period Carrera GS/GT four-cam engine, a dual-mount
Type 741 four-speed manual transaxle, a front-mounted oil cooler, a
full-flow oil filter, a 356 Enterprises camber regulator, GT-style
60mm drum brakes, Tecnomagnesio alloy wheels with Pirelli Cinturato
tires and 12 volt conversion. There maybe no substitute but there
are definite tributes that check all the boxes as this one surely
does. Ready for immediate use and enjoyment for a fraction of the
price of a 356 Carrera GT or if one was to attempt to build one
today in the same manner.
