--Black over Red leather interior, Red Carpeting and Black soft
top, 3.4 Liter DOHC Inline 6-Cylinder engine with Twin SU
Carburetors producing 210 HP at 5,000 RPM, 4-speed manual gearbox,
matching numbers, Restored. Following up from the very successful
XK-120, they made various refinements to create the new XK140. The
same beautiful lines were retained with subtle refinements to the
bumpers and body trim. The engine was moved forward by three inches
to address complaints of cramped accommodations, and the standard
engine was now the 190 horsepower version of the 3.4 liter inline
six. Also returning to the engine options list was the return of
the MC option of another 20 HP to enhance to 210 horsepower output.
Straight line performance was about the same as the XK120, but the
road holding had been vastly improved thanks to the addition of
rack and pinion steering, telescopic dampers as well as larger
brakes and advance suspension geometry. These improvements made the
XK 140 more comfortable, predictable and enjoyable to drive. As
with the XK120 before, the OTS roadster (open two-seater) remained
the most desirable with collectors and enthusiasts, thanks to its
clean, uncluttered look and raw, exciting performance. This
beautiful XK140 OTS MC was sold new by Piccol Motors, Ozone Park,
NY in April 1955. Its original owner kept the car until his passing
and when this XK 140 was sold to its second and more recent owner a
well-known Jaguar collector here in the New York area. This second
owner immediately started a restoration that is superb in every
way, but due to another automobile from our inventory decided to
forfeit the completion of its restoration, instead pursuing a multi
car trade with Autosport Designs, Inc. Therefore, this XK 140 is
just shy of completion and needed final touches. We are in the
midst of going through the engine which is currently running, the
supply and installation of a new voltage regulation, flushing the
brake system which has totally been restored for road use, sewing
and preparing its new side curtains, the carpets and seats will be
installed and finally the top bow front trim deco strip will be
installed. An enormous amount of money has been spent thus far (the
amount which far exceeds todays net worth of a restored XK 140) to
bring to its current condition. At this time, this XK 140 can be
purchased as is in running condition and thus have its next
caretaker complete the interior installation as well and the side
curtains and top bow deco trim or we are happy to complete the
restoration in total. Either way, the end result will be superb.
This XK-140 is offered with spare wheel/tire, Grease gun,
history/receipts, full top, Side Curtain pieces. Once completed,
this XK140 will be a wonderful candidate for many of the world?s
most prestigious vintage rally-tour events, seasonal touring
pleasure and equally at home on the concours lawn.
