Known as "Gable 3," this custom 1951 Jaguar XK120 SE had a concours
restoration completed in 2025. It is powered by a 3.4-liter dual
overhead camshaft inline 6-cylinder engine with approximately
200bhp and dual side-draft SU carburetors all mated to a 4-speed
manual transmission. This open two-seater roadster features a
removable top and a torsion bar independent front suspension with
semi elliptic rear leaf springs. Renowned customizer John
D'Agostino and stylist Woodroe Parker created this tribute to actor
Clark Gable, who ordered the very first Jaguar delivered to
Hollywood, CA. Gable's XK120 was subsequently customized by George
Barris and featured a one-piece padded Carson removable top. The
redesigning of this car was done front to rear, with a new lower,
more sleek profile. All body modifications were done by Oz Kustoms
of Oroville, CA. The top and framework were lowered down 3 inches
to match the front windshield and A-pillars, which were also
lowered 3 inches and laid back 2 inches. All seams on the all-metal
body were molded, and the rear quarters were hand-formed and
crowned to match the new hand-formed fender skirts, which were also
crowned. Then custom-formed side spears/medallions were fitted with
Jaguar emblems. More than two years were spent perfecting the body
and fitment of the doors, hood and trunk to ensure even gaps on the
entire body. The cabin is finished in beautiful Silver Blue Pearl
and features Swedish leather as well as a crystal ashtray fitted by
Divines Custom Interiors. The entire cockpit and interior were
lowered and lengthened to match the lower profile of the top.
