Gateway Classic Cars Houston Showroom is proud to present this 1979
Pontiac Firebird Trans Am. This silver exterior 1979 Pontiac
Firebird Trans Am represents a milestone in Pontiac history as part
of the 10 year anniversary celebration of the Trans Am nameplate.
Its matching silver leather interior complements the distinctive
styling that defined the era, while the 403 CID V8 engine paired
with an automatic transmission delivers the classic character
expected from this iconic model. The anniversary year helped cement
the Trans Am's reputation, making 1979 one of the most recognizable
and celebrated chapters in its history. This was done by having
unique features such as, mirrored T-Tops, the only Trans Am that
came with actual leather seating, and of course the silver paint
scheme. The driving environment includes air conditioning, cruise
control, power steering, power brakes, power windows, and power
locks for everyday usability. Additional features include a tilt
steering wheel, AM FM radio with Bluetooth capability, seatbelts,
radial tires, and removable T tops that add open air enjoyment.
These features reflect the blend of comfort and style that made the
Trans Am a standout during its anniversary year.Mechanical and
functional updates contribute to improved operation and
drivability. The Holley Sniper EFI system provides more precise
fuel metering than a traditional carburetor, supporting smoother
throttle response and consistent performance. An X pipe exhaust
configuration improves exhaust flow balance, aiding efficient
engine breathing. The air conditioning system has been addressed
with a newer compressor and fresh hoses to support reliable
operation. Front and rear shocks have been replaced to support
controlled handling characteristics, and the front and rear brakes
along with the calipers have also been replaced to maintain proper
braking function. While the work was being preformed a new set of
255/60/15 tires were installed. Additional updates include fresh
weather stripping throughout to help with sealing and cabin
comfort. LED headlights and turn signals have been installed to
provide brighter illumination and quicker response compared to
traditional bulbs. All work performed since 2022 has been completed
by Doc Holliday Performance, and the transmission was rebuilt in
2013. This Trans Am is accompanied by PHS documentation from the
Pontiac Historical Society, adding historical context and
supporting its place as a genuine 10 year anniversary example.
