1974 Ferrari 246GTS Chairs and Flares Dino with Matching Numbers
This 1974 Ferrari 246GTS Dino is a rare and highly sought-after
factory Chairs and Flares model. Finished new in Argento Auteuil
Metallizzato (Silver Metallic) over black leather and retaining its
matching-numbers engine and gearbox as confirmed by Dino historian,
Matthias Bartz. While each Dino that rolled off the production line
was a stunning representation of Ferrari?s next generation of road
cars, none were quite as representative as the Chairs and Flares
models. Delivered new through Schwing Motor Co. of Baltimore, this
final-model-year GTS is one of fewer than 150 authentic Chairs and
Flares cars built. An ultra-desirable specification featuring
flared wheel arches, Campagnolo cast alloy wheels, and distinctive
Daytona-style seats. The combination represents the most aggressive
and visually compelling iteration of the Dino. Purchased new by
Nick J. Nero of Kansas City, the car remained in his care for over
20 years before passing through the hands of notable enthusiasts in
Pennsylvania and most recently, California. Throughout its life,
the Dino has been properly maintained rather than restored,
preserving the integrity of its original finishes and components.
The 246 GTS was inspected by noted Ferrari specialist Stephen
Markowski on behalf of its previous owner, a prominent East Coast
collector. Although there was presence of some age-related paint
deterioration, Markowski?s report importantly noted an absence of
prior bodywork. The interior leather was found to be original and
attractively patinated, underscoring the car?s honest,
well-preserved condition. Additionally, the dashboard was correctly
re-trimmed by GTO Engineering in Los Angeles, CA. In 2023,
respected Ferrari expert Greg Jones carried out a comprehensive
service, addressing seals, hoses, clamps, fluids, and other
age-related wear items noted in the inspection. A period-correct
Blaupunkt radio was also sourced and installed. Showing just 31k
miles, this ultimate-specification 246 GTS is accompanied by its
original owner?s manuals, warranty book, window sticker, tools, and
jack. A testament to the fastidious maintenance and preservation of
its previous caretakers, the Dino presents today in
well-maintained, fundamentally unrestored condition, offering a
rare opportunity to obtain an authentic Chairs and Flares Dino that
can be driven and enjoyed for many years to come. Rare and Highly
