This 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 is powered by a DZ-code 302ci OHV
V8 engine paired with an M22 4-speed manual transmission and a
12-bolt posi-traction rear axle coded BV for 4.10:1 gears. The
engine's Suffix DZ stamping identifies the 290hp 4-barrel 302ci V8,
and the included Jerry MacNeish's Camaro Hi-Performance LLC Data
Analysis Report states that the engine stamp is authentic and that
block casting #618 (3956618) is correct for the car's build period.
The 0402 engine stamp denotes an April 2 engine build date, while
04C on the data plate indicates a body build of the third week of
April; the transmission's code and partial VIN stamp are correct,
as is the BV axle stamp dated 0407. The X77 body code denotes Z/28
equipment without the Z21 Style Trim Group, though that trim has
been added, and the original Daytona Yellow exterior color is
confirmed by code-76 on the data plate along with code-B for the
black vinyl top. In October 2024 new rear quarter-panels were
installed, followed by fresh Daytona Yellow paint and black
stripes. The car features front and rear spoilers, a ZL2 Special
Ducted Hood and 5-inch Rally wheels fitted with reproduction E70-15
Goodyear Wide Tread GT bias-ply tires. The interior is trimmed in
its correct code-711 black vinyl bucket seats, and the engine bay
presents in OEM configuration. Power front disc brakes with rear
drums were mandatory equipment on the Z/28. The included Jerry
MacNeish report states that this car is an original Z/28, and it
has earned several awards, including Best Muscle Car and First
Place '60s Sports Car at the 2025 Route 66 Centennial show.
