Now here's a classic droptop you won't soon tire of looking at.
This 1970 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme Convertible has come through
the years with its sharp vintage appearance thoroughly intact, and
the attention-commanding combination of its black exterior, black
vinyl top, and black wheels, combined with that distinctive,
dual-scooped 442 style hood, really makes it stand out in a crowd.
Showing straight, well-fitted body panels and a collection of
chrome trim and bumpers that are in fine shape, this Cutlass has a
very appealing, road-ready aura to it as it already stands, and a
session at the hands of a skilled detailer should bring it to an
even higher level. The way the rear bumper has been modified to
properly accommodate the 442-style dual exhaust is yet another nice
touch.
The black vinyl interior may show some wear, but considering it
remains in its original configuration, it appears pretty
well-preserved. The front buckets have retained their shape and
they straddle a center console that's free of any glaring cracks or
blemishes while positioning the shift lever within easy reach. Up
front on the dash, a trio of aftermarket gauges take their place
alongside their factory counterparts to keep tabs on motoring
functions. The woodgrain accents inside the cabin, often one of the
first areas to show excessive wear, are also still looking good.
You'll find a factory-correct AM radio still in place at the center
of the dash, although it will need a bit of attention to get back
online.
In addition to its undeniable curb appeal, this open-air Olds
happens to be a very strong driver. It's powered by a
factory-correct 350-cubic-inch V8 that's armed with a 4-barrel
Holley carburetor and an Edelbrock Performer Intake manifold to
optimize its performance. The engine pairs with a 3-speed automatic
TH350 transmission that's renowned for its durability and, with its
dual exhaust leading out to a pair of chambered mufflers, a tap on
the accelerator yields a deep, satisfying exhaust note. Power
steering makes this classic easy to navigate, while power brakes
that feature discs up front provide the fade-resistant stopping
ability you'd want for frequent driving. An upgraded aluminum
radiator pairs with dual electric fans to keep operating
temperatures in check.
