Taken from the army and made for the masses, few trucks can compare
with the iconic status of the Civilian Jeep (CJ) series of one of
America's favorite vehicles. This 1979 Jeep CJ7 Renegade comes
decked out in a fully repainted Brown Metallic exterior paint
featuring yellow and orange hood and trim graphics to give it even
more charisma. Keep its removable soft top on, and you're ready to
take on any weather conditions that come your way. Or, take the top
off and enjoy the fun and leisurely side of this off-roading
warrior thanks to its added side steps, larger fender flares, and
powerful front winch.
Inside, this CJ retains its military no-frills personality with a
few notable exceptions. An added center armrest console, complete
with dual cupholders, separates a pair of high-back front bucket
seats. A three-spoke tilt wheel sits before an offset gauge cluster
featuring a large 90 mph speedometer, and corresponding ancillary
gauges sitting mid-dashboard. HVAC controls consist of a series of
push/pull and twist knobs, making it easy to keep your eyes focused
out the upright fold-down windshield. A Boss AM/FM/AUX head unit
also offers Bluetooth connectivity, powering a pair of under-dash
speakers. A powder-coated expletive bar gives the front passenger
something to grab onto when the road disappears, and their center
of gravity begins to shift outside of their comfort zone.
Under the hood, we find a big 360 cubic-inch V-8 engine, which was
rebuilt in May 2025. Featuring an MSD ignition, aluminum radiator,
and a Rochester TBI electronic fuel injection setup mounted to an
Edelbrock intake manifold, this big AMC motor has all the power and
torque you need to go anywhere, anytime. A set of long tube headers
feeds into a trick side-exit exhaust to give this truck a bit more
power and sound than its enlisted forebears. That power is funneled
through a Tremec T177 four-speed manual transmission and a Dana 300
transfer case, on its way to either the rear wheels or all four
corners, giving this truck maximum traction.
