1949 Mercury Eight Convertible-According to internet sources, there were 301,302 Mercury's produced and sold in 1949, but only 16,725 were convertibles. Historically, the all-new 1949 Mercury was the Indy Pace car that year.
This is a solid western car with an older restoration. Pretty Vermilion Red with extra nice black and red leatherette interior and parade boot. Black Hartz cloth convertible top. It is powered by a hot Mercury Flathead V-8 with a performance cam, 4 BBL carb and intake, finned aluminum heads, and exhaust headers feeding into the dual exhaust. 3-Speed "three-on-the-tree" manual transmission with overdrive. Car has been updated to 12 volt system. Car has power convertible top and power windows, but all work slowly. Car starts, runs, drives, and stops well.
This is a really good solid car with good paint, beautiful chrome, glass, and interior but not perfect. Great price for a vintage Merc Convertible. Call me for an accurate description.
