This 1988 Mercedes-Benz 560SL is the final and most refined
iteration of the R107 "Sport Leicht" Roadster series. Finished in
black over a Palomino leather interior, this example is powered by
a 5.6-liter V8 engine rated at 227hp, paired with a 4-speed
automatic transmission. Performance improvements for the 560SL
included a top speed approaching 140 mph, a 15.5-second
quarter-mile and an upgraded rear suspension with a limited-slip
differential for improved control and stability. The 560SL features
a steel unibody, fully independent suspension, four-wheel ABS disc
brakes, power-assisted steering and factory 15-inch alloy wheels
with performance radial tires. It is equipped with both tops: a
removable hardtop with rolling carrier and a like-new black canvas
soft-top with clear windows. An added wind blocker enhances
top-down comfort. The interior features premium Palomino leather,
flawless wood trim and high-grade carpeting. Amenities include
climate control with cold air conditioning, the original Becker
Grand Prix stereo, power antenna, power windows, locks and mirrors,
cruise control and full instrumentation. Mercedes-Benz safety
engineering includes crumple zones, side-impact protection,
energy-absorbing controls and one of the earliest implementations
of SRS airbags. This 560SL was delivered new in Enid, OK, and has
had two Oklahoma owners from new. The first owner opted to delete
the factory fender pinstripes, preserving the original design
lines. Documentation includes the factory owner's manual, warranty
book, delivery tags and SRS information booklet. The black paint
and leather interior have been professionally ceramic-coated for UV
protection and easy upkeep. No accidents or damage reported to
CARFAX.
