We're excited to bring to market one of the most compelling "lost
and found" Ferraris we've come across. An early 1977 Ferrari 512
Berlinetta Boxer, chassis 20747, discovered sitting in static
storage in a Palm Beach garage.
This early, carbureted 512 BB is 1 of only 929 examples produced
and stands out immediately for its stunning Blu Chiaro over Cuoio
specification - a rare, elegant combination seldom seen on Boxers.
Delivered new in Europe and showing its original kilometer
instruments, the car also carries genuine period racing history,
documented through an incredible archival photo set from the early
1980s showing the car actively campaigned at events throughout the
Netherlands and Belgium. This archive can be found on the
Netherlands 512bb registry archive.
Later in its life, #20747 became part of the private collection of
Frits Kroymans, the longtime official Ferrari importer for the
Netherlands and one of Europe's most respected Ferrari collectors.
Kroymans' stable famously included blue-chip icons such as a 250
GTO, 250 Testa Rossa, and numerous significant competition Ferraris
- making his ownership a meaningful piece of provenance for any car
that passed through his hands.
When the Kroymans Collection was dispersed, this Boxer quietly made
its way to the United States, eventually landing in a Palm Beach
garage where it remained tucked away and largely forgotten -
preserved, untouched, and waiting for its next chapter. As found
the car has some service and cosmetic needs. It starts and runs but
will need a full inspection and service prior to road use.
Cosmetically the dash has shrinkage and pulling and the paint has
blemishes throughout. The rocker panels have corrosion on the
bottom corners that will need to be addressed while the underside
is nicely detailed and shows as a solid original example. Notably
the rear fenders were flared to accommodate for wider Campagnolo
wheels in its racing days. The original set of wheels are also
included with the sale.
Today, it emerges as a true analog icon: a carbureted flat-12
Ferrari in a rare colorway, with European provenance, photo
documented period racing histoy, and former residence in one of
Europe's most serious Ferrari collections.
A remarkable discovery. A rare specification. A meaningful
provenance.
