"The Chrysler Crossfire is the sports car experience you've been
craving for. The sculpted edges of Chrysler Crossfire's low slung
design flow around the vehicle from panel to panel but rarely
disappear from sight. Organically curved panels, subtle edges, the
long hood and broad shoulders make the Chrysler Crossfire a
standout in any crowd." Jdpower.com
For consignment, a 2008 Chrysler Crossfire coupe with a title
verified 16,791 actual miles. Crossfires may have been sold as
daily drivers, but owners soon realized they were something special
and typically used them sparingly, and low mileage is the norm
rather than a rarity, and this one's just getting warmed up!
Exterior
Both the convertible and the coupe retain a broad, silver
windshield frame that has classic Thunderbird vibes and looks
fantastic against the black paint and is visually picked up by the
triple strakes of the fender vent. Art deco style lines on the hood
were intended to promote brand identity and create "visual tension"
and it works on both accounts as you won't find another like it!
Out back, wide hips flank a narrow hatch, almost Marlin-like in its
shape, terminating at a pair of handsome, square exhaust tips that
exit in the center. 18-inch wheels fill the wheel wells and carry
ZR rated tires, staggered from the factory and providing the car's
muscular look. The car is incredibly clean and we could find no
exterior imperfections.
Interior
This one has the attractive Cedar option on the inside, a rusty red
color that pops from its black surroundings, beginning on the door
panels which are stylish and mint. The bucket seats are next where
the interplay of red and black presents an inviting design with
plenty of side bolstering with just a hint of use on the driver's
side. The cedar steering wheel is bold and front the two tone dash
that tops a run of cedar with a black dash pad. Ahead, a simple
instrument cluster with a speedometer that squeezes in a lot of
numbers and maxes out at 160! Contrasting the black and red is the
lovely aluminum colored center stack with A/C controls, AM/FM/CD
player, numerous toggles, and seamlessly cascading to the center
console that houses the matching shifter and it's all in showroom
condition. The tan headliner continues back to cover the hatch door
and surround the cargo area, finished in black carpet.
Drivetrain
A clean, aluminum colored shroud covers the SLK derived 3.2 liter
V6 with 215 horsepower. It's mated to a 5-speed automatic
transmission that routes power to the rear axle, sports car style,
and 3.27 gears.
Undercarriage
All clean underneath where we find four wheel power disc brakes and
a single exhaust system running through original equipment on its
way to that center exit. Suspension consists of coil spring front
and rear with a 5 link helping out in back.
Drive-Ability
With the German influence and platform underpinning the entire car,
the cockpit presents as efficient, attractive, and uber comfortable
while the engine offers a smooth willingness to propel this car
onto the test loop. It tracks straight, handles well, and stops on
a dime, just as one might expect. All functions on board operate
just as they should. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these
functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot
guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your
purchase.
A recent collector sent some cars to the mall for us to represent.
But they are keeping one car they wouldn't part with. It's their
Crossfire. If you've met and spoken to owners, you'll get a
resoundingly consistent report that these are wonderful to own and
even better to drive. Here's one in amazingly clean condition and
low mileage to back it up.
