1946 Ford Business coupe built from the ground up with no expense spared. This 46 was purchased in 1951 by the previous owners grandfather who left the car to his son in the 1970’s who decided to undertake a full build with his son around 2010. This car remained with the same family for over 70 years!
Built by professional shops in Texas , Ornduff Hot Rods, and Bruces Rod Shop with receipts totaling over $170,000. The S.C.O.T. Blown flathead was built by H&H Flathead in Crescentia, CA. The car was finished around 2011 and still has less than 1000 miles on the build.
Extensive metalwork was performed on the car to assure excellent fitment and laser straight body panels. Headlights were frenched, bear claw latches installed, and firewall smoothed and recessed for the Wilwood brake booster. Finished in its original color of “Dynamic Maroon,” fully sanded and buffed to a show quality mirror finish. Underbody is painted body color over “Lizard Skin” sound deadener.
The interior utilizes a “Glide” adjustable bench seat, 6 hides of “SpinneyBack” hand dyed leather in the color of “Telluride” Beautifully restored Dashboard with a combination of NOS gauges and Stewart warner gauges including a column mounted tach and 40 Ford Deluxe steering wheel. Note the hand made stainless clutch and brake pedals and Skull shifter knob on the T5 manual transmission.
Powered by a H&H Flathead built 59A flathead stroked to 284 cu in. with SCAT rotating assembly dynamically balanced, ported, polished, and relieved. Topped with Offenhauser heads, a S.C.O.T. Blower, and dual Stromburg 97 carbs. Fitted with MSD electronic ignition and the coolest set of hand made headers and exhaust I’ve seen in awhile. If you are not familiar with H&H, look them up, they are the best in the business. Backed by a T5 5 speed manual with overdrive and a Ford 9” differential with 3.50 gear. Rear suspension was upgraded to a parallel leaf and front has a Pete and Jakes dropped axle, split wishbones, spring, and Vega cross steer with power disc brakes.
Certainly one of the finest 46 ford street rods available today. Built by 7 generation owners who cared and the end result has a truly timeless style, packed with the best components and materials available.
