1963 Dodge D100 Town Wagon – Rare “Town Wagon” with Airport History
Carolina Classic Cars is proud to present this unique and vintage 1963 Dodge D100 Town Wagon, a true Mopar classic with an incredible backstory. By the mid-1950s, Dodge had already established its name in American automotive history. Seeking to expand into the growing multi-purpose market, they introduced the D100 line in 1954, offering both Town Panel and Town Wagon models as direct competitors to Chevrolet’s popular Suburban. These versatile Town variants remained in production in the U.S. through 1966.
This particular 1963 model stands out as an authentic example of Dodge’s early utility design. The orange exterior shows character and use, and there’s an interesting reason why: the truck was previously owned by Johnson Creek Airport in Idaho, where it served as a courtesy shuttle, transporting clients to and from the airstrip. The airport fleet painted the vehicle in their colors over the original yellow finish. Johnson Creek, known for its grass airstrip nestled between mountains and pine trees, has a long-standing reputation in aviation circles, and it is believed that this Town Wagon was purchased new by the airport.
Inside, the black vinyl interior is in good condition, showing normal signs of use consistent with the age and history of the vehicle. Powering this Town Wagon is the dependable 225ci Slant 6 engine, paired with a 4-speed manual transmission featuring a granny gear—offering both rugged capability and classic drivability.
It is stated that the vehicle retains all of its original panels, and the title reflects it as a 1963 Dodge Van. The title is clean and clear, ready to transfer into its next owner’s name.
Because Town Wagons rarely come up for sale—especially those with documented history—this example is an excellent opportunity for collectors, restorers, or enthusiasts looking for something truly unique.
