The 1951 Chevrolet 5700 COE Crew Custom Hauler is powered by a
rebuilt 5.9 Turbo Cummins diesel engine paired with an automatic
transmission and supported by two transmission coolers and two
radiator coolers to ensure efficient power and temperature
management. It features Laker pipes, an air-over-hydraulic cab pump
system, electronic hood locks and a cab that raises 3 feet with a
built-in safety locker, providing full and secure access to the
engine and transmission. The chassis utilizes a handcrafted
twin-frame construction with one frame nested inside the other, an
independent front suspension system, front hydro-assist disc
brakes, a tag axle with a total of 10 wheels using 235/85R16 tires
and full custom aluminum rims. It rides on rear air suspension, and
both the front and rear wheel wells are flared to accommodate the
custom stance and wheel configuration. Exterior components begin
with a full custom Inferno Orange paint finish applied following
the frame-off restoration, new door handles and latches, a
suicide-style passenger-side door, deluxe rear corner cab windows,
mud flaps and a GM deluxe sun visor mounted above the front split
windshield that measures 105 inches long and 4 inches in diameter.
The front bumper incorporates recessed driving lights, built-in
parking sensors, a fully enclosed valence and shaved mounting
bolts, while the headlights are Frenched and fitted with halogen
units. The truck is equipped with LED lighting throughout,
nostalgic beacon lights, additional beacon-style backup lighting at
the deck and electronic security for hood access. Rear equipment
includes a rollback deck measuring 18.5 feet long and 94 inches
wide, finished in non-skid aluminum with more than 16 integrated
tie-down points along each side and dual 21x58-inch under-deck
aluminum storage cabinets. The hydraulic system that operates the
deck is belt-driven, and the truck is fitted with a 9,500-pound
winch featuring Roam electronic cell-phone control for remote
operation. Additional exterior systems include twin 12-volt
compressors for the air-ride suspension, an emergency trouble light
that extends to the rear wheels, auxiliary booster-cable capability
by routing through the winch power port and general-purpose utility
lighting placed around the vehicle for visibility during loading
and roadside operations. The fully customized interior includes
four new leather bucket seats and a 5-foot-wide rear bench that
measures 37 inches deep and can be converted into a bed when the
back seats fold down. It is equipped with a Vintage Air
climate-control system, power windows and power locks, tilt
steering, electric wiper motors, and a modified dashboard with its
lower section extended downward by an additional 5 inches to house
switching for the hood locks and other controls. Entertainment
features include a Kenmore stereo system with two DVD players, one
dash-mounted and one ceiling-mounted for rear passengers. Every
aspect of the interior and exterior was completed as part of an
extensive handcrafted frame-off restoration, and the cab has been
stretched to a total measurement of 86 inches from the front nose
to the rear of the deck, bringing the overall length to 32 feet, 7
inches.
