For Sale: 1967 Chevrolet Camaro in Morgantown, Pennsylvania

Vehicle Description

1967 Chevrolet Camaro RS/SS 350 Hardtop

The 1967 Camaro appeared on the scene and the General instantly became a big player in the pony car wars. The Camaro had gotten ahead of the curve and was now a leader in the style department because the car already looked like a car from the early 70's even though that era was still 4 years in the future in October 1966. The 1967 Camaro was the star attraction when it debuted in the fall of 1966 and it gave the General an instant classic in the pony car battle.

For consignment, a 1967 Chevrolet Camaro SS 350 hardtop showing 2,800 miles, but the true miles are unknown. This car received a frame off restoration and while we see our share of clones at the mall, but this is a real deal RS/SS and while not ultra rare, they represent less than 15% of total Camaro production in 1967.

Exterior
Dressed up in stylish two stage Ermine White and if we left it there, that would be cool. But of course, black nose stripes call out the SS and in fact, surround the emblem on the fender. In front of it, a well designed grille with hidden headlights and covers that mimic the grille, while marker lights are embedded on the apron. In back, our clean presentation includes black framed single lens tail light that fall under the white spoiler while the SS badged fuel filler cap sits dead center. 15-inch Chevrolet Rally wheels carry 205/75R15 redline tires for an even, original looking stance enhanced by rocker trim. The metalwork and paint are fantastic with imperfections noted as a sap like substance on the nose and minor dinging in the wheel arch trim.

Interior
The cleanliness trend continues inside where blue stitched patterned door panels are dressed up with silver trim and bright hardware and both doors are impeccable. Blue vinyl bucket seats and the rear bench are all immaculate. Brushed aluminum finish on the steering wheel spokes are a great contrast to the brown frame that visually surrounds the dual gauges up front and smooth, blue dashboard with silver knobs while we note the absence of vents. The center stack does contain the vent lever panel however, along with an updated AM/FM radio and triple gauge pod. A gleaming shaft of the tall Hurst shifter grabs your eye just before you grab the white ball handle knob and the plastic base of the center console is some of the nicest we've seen, right out of the Chevrolet catalog. Black twist carpet below, Camaro branded carpeted mats, a high and tight headliner, and a clean and barren trunk with plaid mat round out this show car's interior quality. We may not be as picky as our consignor who notes some discoloration on the driver's side carpet!

Drivetrain
Grab a fork because you could eat off this one! It's a 350ci V8 with aluminum heads and an Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor over the orange painted valve covers and block. Behind it is an Autogear M22 4-speed manual transmission that routes power to the 12 bolt axle with a consignor stated 3.73 gear ratio and Positraction inside. Our decoding has the differential stamping indicating a 3.55 rear from a 1970 Nova. I guess we are picky, after all! Meanwhile, a Wilwood master cylinder with booster is in the spotless bay.

Undercarriage
If you didn't finish your meal from the engine bay, you can do it underneath where things are fantastically clean. Here we have dual exhaust that runs through FlowMaster mufflers and terminates behind the rear valance. Power brakes are distributed as front disc and rear drum and suspension is configured as coil springs in front and leaf springs in back. Everything is gleaming, grease free, rust free, and clean. But if we're being picky, we'll note the grease sling on the exhaust from the rear U-joint.

Drive-Ability
We cross our fingers and hope for a test run that's as smooth as the paint, and the RS/SS does not disappoint. It sounds great, feels right, and goes like stink. Talk about time travel back to 1967! We note only the reverse lights are not illuminating but all other functions operate as they should. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase.

Like the majority of '67's that have come through our Hallowed Halls, this one is destined for a new home. And wherever that is in the world, it will be appreciated by Camaro fans, muscle car and pony car fans, and just about anyone with good taste!
